Good morning my fellow Exodian's. I would like to announce a few temporary changes in the senate due to the absence of Senator Beestonia. As we have several issues before the senate that need addressing I am naming a substitute to sit in for Beestonia, and I am giving Beest's until the end of February to reclaim his seat without contest. After that point upon his return he would have to run for senate as the seat will be open. The Speaker position will be appointed at this time due to time restraints, and a formal election will be held for this position in conjunction with the senate seat in the first week of March. At this time I will announce the senate sub and SoN's. For the position of senator I call upon Dr Pepper. I have great faith in Drpep as they were a former government official and know this job and it's requirements. They have proven themselves to be a great asset to The Exodus and they love this region and it's nations dearly and will work for a better TE for everyone. As for Speaker of Nations I call upon the nation Halfling. I am pleased at the interest Halfling shows in the region and the dedication they have shown in their post on forum and RMB and I know they will stand firm in the ideals TE stands for and will look to all nations to render a fair and equal judgement in the senate. Thank you for your time this morning I will place a copy of this ruling in the forum for all to see.:) Have a great day all. Regards, AA/Avolon Founder The Exodus |

Excellent choices, both. Congratulations to DP in her return to the hallowed halls of power. And a hearty congrats to my sucessor as Speaker of Nations, Halfling. I am sure you will do a wonderful job.

Since Beestonia came back does that mean he is a senator now, and DP's appointment is no longer valid? Also, will Halfling remain Speaker, and will we wait fort he first week in March to elect a speaker? I would suggest we do that, no offense to DP ( I like her a lot and think she can offer so much to the region). We do ened a speaker and Halfling seems capable and active. We have many important things on the senate agenda that ened to be dealt with. |

Beest's and I have talked and since the issues before the senate for immediate vote came up during his absence we decided that Drpep will stay on till they are seen through to completion. After that Beest's will resume as Senator. As for Speaker, Halfling will continue till we have a formal election once the issues are settled. ![]() |

This sounds like a good plan to me. If we do have a Speaker election, I'm not sure if I'll run or not, but I know that I'll keep this post until further notice.

Halfling if you do choose to run in the future Speaker election I would be honored to except your candidacy. You're doing a bangup job thus far.

Not trying to be a smart ass here but considering we don't have a senate anymore does the speaker serve any purpose? |

Yes Dr S the speaker is the voice of the region to the government. They act as the arbitrator between them. |

I'm not trying to be a smartass here, but I'm actually confused as to what the speaker does. Is it like, I have an idea, I tell the speaker, he tells The Bear Empire (or whoever), and then the last person does whatever they want with the idea? Do we really need the middle-man? Or am I completely missing the point? |

In the days of the Senate, the Speaker was the head of that body. When the Senate was dissolved, it was decided to retain the position as a kind of one-person Senate. One person to act on behalf of the nations of the region while the other government officials focused on their specific areas. At least, that's how I understood it to be. As to whether it is necessary in a region our size, with a government that isn't exactly active in ways that many are, that doesn't deal with the minutiae of things, that's a question for others to answer. |
