Why do we need The Exodus? The Pacific only has about 2,617 nations, shouldn't we not be trying to divide NS by having our own region and siphoning nations off of the feeders? To what purpose did we form our own region and forum? We are putting all this work into recruiting and other things when we could just sit around in the feeders and do pretty much nothing. What is the purpose of this region? What is the purpose of me sitting here spending money on electricity and things like that when I could simply live in the dumpster behind Popeye’s Chicken feasting off of half eaten fried chicken and biscuits for free? I say instead of maintaining The Exodus or even worse, trying to expand it, we should all just move back to the feeders and make no attempt to do anything! |

Hah hah - no need to be snide. There is a difference. A very large difference. The Pacifics, even with many people constantly leaving, have a very strong population. We do not. 100 people is not that many. Besides that fact that only about 15 are constantly active. I just think it would be wiser to have a strong base before expanding. |

Serious or not, I'm going to answer Wilke's post and raise a couple questions of my own.
Well that's a silly question from you, Wilke. You more than most of us should know, as you are one of the few who were around for the events that spawned this region. But since there are others who may read this who don't have that knowledge, I will recap briefly the events that resulted in The Exodus' birth. There was a split in opinion on how things should be done in the "government" of Ille de France. The Founder and his supporters had one view, and the Delegate and his followers had another. NationStates power lying with the Founder as it does, the Delegate and his followers packed up and founded The Exodus. While such things happen all the time in NS, The Exodus didn't slide into obscurity as often happens. But that was over two years ago, and most of those who were involved have long since left NS entirely. We long ago ceased to be merely the anti-IDF region. And that leads us to...
The best question posed in your somewhat silly post. What is our purpose? What do we stand for? And what sets us apart from all of the other regions out there? As most of you know, I also spend a lot of my NS time in one of the game play regions, Lazarus. This means I have to read more adspam than is truly healthy. And one thing I have noticed is that most of the ads are virtually the same. Governments, Maps, Spam games, these are practically universal. What are we really trying to "sell" when we recruit? I wish I had the answers to these questions. I enjoy my time in TE, hence why I'm still here two years after joining. But do we have a purpose? Do we even want a purpose, or is just existing enough? |

Yes folks I'm kidding. Props to VB for giving good answers to a fairly ridiculous post. I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that this is a game and we really should not over interrogate it as I think we have been doing with the whole Commonwealth question. |

Great response VB and I think we do need to debate and define our purpose.. I think the time has come and the region is stable and active which makes it a perfect time to do this. Do you want to start a new thread on this in the RA or should I? Bravo and thanks for finding sense here.

That depends. Is it a nice old garden hose or one of those nasty fire hoses that will knock a civil rights activist several feet into the air? |

While being rather new to NS and The Exodus, I find it is good to escape the constant spam and poor grammar of the feeders. I feel The Exodus seems to be comprised mainly of like-minded, rather Intelligent Individuals who love a good debate/argument. I believe The Exodus should indeed have a purpose other than existance. We the Exodian Citizens should develop a political stance we can all agree upon and attempt to change the world(NS) to reflect that. We could and should become a powerful political entity in the UN. And to that effect we should attempt to recruit as many UN nations with our shared beliefs as possible. Further, I propose that a branch of the Big Thing/RA/Ministry should be tasked with producing, editing, advertising, and submitting UN proposals on the Exodus' behalf. With the many great minds that exist within our ranks it should be well within our power to create elegant proposals which will mold the UN into the form of our choosing. BTW DSL, It's a love hose. |

i will proudly say that i have never had a nation in any of the pacifics for longer than 24 hours. feeder regions are boring, pointless, insulting, corrupt, up to their armpits in turd and are the reasons that so many nations struggle to enjoy NS at first if they stay there too long. where the Exodus and regions like us are insulting, pointless, up to their armpits in turd but still highly enjoyable! haha, anyway, what would i do with my time if i didn't have TE at a night time in the working week? |

Actually, I based my original proposal for the RA on several groups like it from the feeders, specifically Lazarus and The West Pacific.
