After playing Halo Reach for awhile (And still having a blast) i've realized a lot of weird and awesome things happen. So i've decided to start taking video clips towards making a montage! However i have no idea what kind of video editing software to use. So before i go sifting through the internet like a metal detector on a crowded beach, or downloading torrents like a spy working for a black agency, i decided to see what you guys think. Any advice? |

Depends on how much effort you're gonna put into it: Bare Minimum - Windows Movie Maker, iMovie Average - Pinnacle Studio, Corel VideoStudio Maximum - Sony Vegas Pro, Adobe After Effects (I'd recommend using both in conjunction though; After Effects for the dazzle factor and Vegas for the sequencing) Of course, there's more in between but these are the programs that I've had experience with. Also just because I put Movie Maker in the lowest tier doesn't mean it can't produce great stuff! Likewise, using a great program like Sony Vegas doesn't guaranteed great outcomes. Any video editor can make a great video, it just depends on the person editing. Oh, and if you decide to get Sony Vegas Pro, don't be intimidated by its complexity! When I first got it, I nearly shit myself when seeing all the options lol. But after time you'll get used to it and realize that to be honest, it's not all that difficult to use. I'd like to say same about After Effects, but I'd be lying...it's one hell of a program and I'm still confused on how to use it effectively. xD However, After Effects produces AMAZING stuff if you take some time to learn it. And by "some time", I mean days and days of learning lol. YouTube tutorials are your friend when it comes to Vegas and After Effects. Good luck! Edited by Mirage of Grim, Feb 27 2011, 04:21:03 PM.
