Me and a friend of mine just had an argument a while ago about how Cthulhu's name is pronounced. He pronounces it as 'Kuh-tool-ooh', and I pronounce it as 'K'thool-thoo'. Okay, mine is a little weird, nut I'm pretty sure neither are right. |

It's probably something like 'Thoo-loo'. Ah. Wikipedia IS my friend. "Long after Lovecraft's death, the pronunciation k-THOO-loo became common, and the game Call of Cthulhu endorsed it." Though Google's a better friend. "Lovecraft transcribed the pronunciation of Cthulhu as "Khlûl'hloo" or "Kathooloo" S. T. Joshi points out, however, that Lovecraft gave several differing pronunciations on different occasions.According to Lovecraft, however, this is merely the closest that the human vocal apparatus can come to reproducing the syllables of an alien language." |
