Did anyone see the northern Ontario news last night about the two guys caught moose poaching? They shot a bull and cow with out tags and tried to get a native person to claim them. Were caught and made to pay $1500 and 15 years no MOOSE hunting. Are you f ing kidding me!!!!! What a dam slap on the hand. No moose hunting!!! They were hunting against the law in the first place!!!! Why not no hunting at all take the darn rifles and any equipment use during the hunt. What do you say to that a guy I know two years ago shot a cow and thought it was a calf. Turned it in and got a $1000 fine and no moose had rifle taken for three weeks but got it back. What a joke for these two guys.

Well the 15 years no moose hunting is a longer sentence than I am used to seeing. The fine was not that significant but at least the poachers were caught and charged.

They were already hunting without a license ... do you think a 15 year hunting ban will stop them? Hit them where it hurts. Bigger fines and confiscate trucks, guns, & ATV's.

Very true. I do like to see the longer hunting ban than the usual 1 or 2 years but for sure taking away truck, guns and ATV would definitely be hitting them where it hurts and be a much better deterrent. I guess I was pointing out that at least in one area the law seems to be handing down stiffer sentences. They are known poachers now so that give CO's leverage in dealing with them.

I agree, 15 years is good to see but the $1500 is pretty lame. i`m sure they will be keeping an eye on them guys and chances are they will probably do it again and hopefully get caught again in the act.

On another note...It be awesome if the native guy/girl turned them in.

Poachers will always be poachers. But seizing vehicles, firearms and any other equipment used would sure make them think twice. Of course maybe they had a junk truck, and gun. Its so tough to stop these guys. Hats of to the folks who reported them. They were obviously your typical, care free, window licking poachers. :boxing:
I don't always chase tail, but when I do; its whitetail. Stay camo my friends.

You're not paying for a stay at the Hilton, you're paying to participate in nature. Anything can happen.

The courts can ban them for life, put them in jail and lots of $$ fines. Just need to convince the judges to do it!!

A poacher will always be a poacher, they have no reguards for the law so a 15 year ban on moose hunting is a joke that
their still laughing at.
$1500. for 2 moose, that's cheap, costs 3x that for a chance at one through an outfitter

Don't make no sense
