Minus 30 degrees F this morning in northern NY. Was reading on the weather site that 78% of the Great Lakes are froze over. That hasn't t happened since 1979. All of Erie and Superior, most of Huron, and Michigan. Only Ontario , because it's the deepest, is still 70 % open water. If these cold temps continue, the percentage of ice cover could surpass 1979 levels ? WLK Edited by WLK, Feb 12 2014, 08:06 AM.
