I saw this online last night. Lots of people commenting on it. What does everyone think here?

In hind site things could have been done differently but given the circumstances and how fast it played out I think the guy was lucky he shot it when he did because I don't think he would have had a chance a couple seconds later. I don't see any intent, just self defence.

probably would have been tough to get off and try turn the snow mobile around , trail looks kinda narrow . especially wit an angry moose watching ya. he didnt use the gun ntil all else failed , probably lucky he wasnt hurt with the first attack

What really bothers me is he just drives around it and leaves the moose laying there, obvioulsy not dead...I know a lot of the details are left out with the video, but did he go back and dispatch it? Were wildlife officials called? He does drive closer to it after you can obviously tell the moose isn't to pleased that he is there. I think the whole situation could have been avoided. Why not shut the machine off and walk away until the moose leaves the trail?

Like I said before, hind site is a wonderful thing. He did not know the moose was going to be aggressive, I'm sure he thought the moose was going to walk off the trail. By the time he realized what he was into he risked getting killed if he didn't protect himself. That being said he is lucky the moose still didn't kill him before it died.

When I first watched the clip I expected the Moose to eventually run off. The attack was unexpected and I sure didnt expect a hand gun coming out ?

Caught me off guard too. I think he was smart pulling it as he barely got one in the chamber before it turned to come again. When it ran off after the attack I would have thought how lucky I was. I don't think I would have been prepared for another, probably worse attack which obviously was the plan. I think he emptied his gun and knew it could get up again so better get himself and the group to safety. I'm sure after he collected himself and reloaded (if he had any more shells) he went and finished it off or arranged to get it done. Easy to judge when you are not in the situation. All I can say is luckily no one got hurt and SOMEONE LEARNS FROM IT. I see very stupid behavior all the time with people and moose in Algonquin park, maybe a few will see this and get enlightened.

He did the right thing in my mind. His buddy was probably right behind him and the trail was to narrow to spin around. The guy was cornered and after the first attack he had reasonable cause to defend himself and his property.

But if that happened in Canada.... the guy would be mud. The guy should have let the moose kill him and his friend. They would probably say the moose was clinically insane and was not responsible for the attacks. Caused by lack of nutrition because of logging. Logging would be banned. The trail than would be deemed a moose corridor and people could come from near and far to view them walking on these trails from CSA approved viewing booths.... :coffee:

All he had to do was stop and not push the matter! "WILD ANIMAL" would you bother a grizzly or just sit back and look at it when you first saw it! and why would you start making stupid noises when you FIRST see it? im sure the moose heard the snowmobile, unless it was a deaf moose lol, I know there wasn't a story on what they were doing but why do u carry a hand gun when sledding! I sure don't. just my opinion, I don't want anyone to jump down my throat on this or better yet come shoot me!

See moose...check. Turn Go-pro on....check. Engage moose....check. Do not back away or go around in the powder. Why not just sit still and let things chill. I guess I am going to go against the grain on this one. The dude looked to me like he wanted an excuse to shoot something. I think this guy is a moron. Who the hecks packs a gun when sledding? Wow.

WHAT! who doesn't pack a gun when sledding... someone that's not prepared that's who!!! You never know when your going to be in a dangerous situation. There are a lot of squirrel gangs out there and what happens if you breakdown. You could shoot your buddy for extra clothes and a tasty snack. Or maybe your GoPro batteries go and he won't give you his extra set. Maybe you want to set off an avalanche so you can cross a pass safely. What happens if he has an Artic Cat sled. Maybe he doesn't want to become a born F'N loser... LOL

I just read the comments attached to the video and there pretty funny.. sounds like the debates we have on this forum from time to time
