Hey all, I'm from Mississauga Ontario and I'm new to hunting! 18 years old, love nature and fishing but never really gave hunting a second thought until a few months ago. I want to start small, and am getting my hunting/firearm license in a few weeks, I just have a few questions!

1) I bought a slingshot and started practicing in my backyard, and have gotten pretty accurate from 20ish yards (8/10 usually with 3/8th steel pellets). Once I get my license, could I kill small game with this or is a air rifle more humane?

2) if I'm sitting on my porch at the cottage (lots of privately owned land by us) and a squirrel runs by, can I kill it even if it is out of season? As long as it is on my land?

Thank you for reading fellas, any help would be greatly appreciated !

When you take your hunting course it will fill you in on a lot of do's and dont's

Where is your cottage? I was lucky when I in Mississauga, still not fully grown, I even remember hunting geese around Streetsville, drove by last year and nothing but houses and box stores now. Some great shed hunting spots along the Credit river, or even by 16 mile creek by Oakville

Cottage is on Buckhorn Lake in the Kawarthas! I live a 5 minute walk from the Credit, the salmon fishing in September is my favourite time of the year

Used to walk from Erin Mills to the Credit for fishing, even got dropped off when my brother played hockey, I'd go fishing

Kawarthas is a hotspot for some great hunting, from the small stuff to bears, work on getting yourself an all around gun for your first, suggest a 20 guage or 12 gauge, good for birds and slugs for bear or deer.
