I've tried the Sitka gear, and despite everybody's rave reviews, I wasn't a fan. I found it didn't breath and leaked. I personally recommend Bass Pro's 100 MPH bibs and jacket. Very solid/durable and truly waterproof setup rivalling the quality of Simms gear at a much lower cost. Though its not camo, I just conceal myself more.

Anything gore-tex. Gore-tex is a thin layer that many manufacturers use. Find a make /model /Camo pattern of your choice and as long as it has a gore - tex lining you're good to go. BPS 's 100 mph line has a gore -tex lining.

Considering Sitkas Waterfowl line is really just 2 seasons old and they really only 2 jackets thus far as "rain gear", I wonder how much time anyone really has in them.

I have both Jackets
Patanal is a Gore tex shell with some micro fleece. Hit retail for 2012
Boreal is Goretex and 600 fill power Goose down. Hit retail stores Summer 2013

Patanal I wore early season and into the mid season, colder mornings I used a Primaloft jacket as my mid. It is what it is. A goretex shell with added length in the seat. Fine on its own early season, will definately need insulating layer (s) in colder temps. I have worn the Patanal during rifle week for WTs. Mid week 2013 it poured all day on the Wed, I was dry as a bone.

Late Nov Diver hunt, last hunt of the year actually before the lake froze over. If you look carefully you can see the film of ice on the lake.

Nov-Jan I wore the Boreal.

Ive never, never been as comfortable in anyhting else. Even wore it a couple days Mid Dec in the tree stand when it was -30 at first light because it was so cold that week . Id wear it more but 1) too noisy for that (WT hunting) and 2) With its price tag, I don't want it wearing out sooner than needed. I wouldnt hesitate to wear to it on the coldest wettest days I can envision/imagine.

Never had a problem with any of my Sitka products, and I have quite a bit.

Is it "right" for everyone?
Only buyers can decide if it was worth it.....................Or not. As someone up above said, its expensive.

Not sure how it would handle some of the wet weather some hardcore waterfowlers hunt in. But on a recommendation of a friend I bought some artic shield outer apparel.

I get cold fast, even tho I grew up in the north lol. However this fall whitetail hunting with the early and cold winter we had and the recent cold snap I experienced in Nebraska while turkey hunting. This suit coupled with therma cell heated insoles kept me cozy warm right up till the last day of the season. Super thin comfortable and works good for vertical compound bow shooting.

Not as pricey as some other stuff out there

Cheers
