Live in Florida . hunt in Ontario around Dryden .. Have a place there... Curious I know its been a very bad winter up there. I know the locals like yourselves know what's going on. I don't put much faith in politics, agencys and beaurocrats much anymore .. too much propaganda .. lies .... so just how is the deer herd up there.. any deer left .. they all freeze to death .. what say you? really concerned deer hunter that I am ... |

Deer numbers will be down from last year in most areas. There will still be some deer around Dryden but overall things are pretty grim for most areas of NW Ontario. I have found quite a few winter kills but seeing sign of a decent proportion of survivors in the areas I have been as well. |

Thanks, I was up there back in November when first snow fell about 10 inches.. hunted a week . It was 21 below zero that one morning. that was it for me .. I watched weather all winter and it hasn't let up yet. Winnipeg reports coldest winter in 115 years. Wish it would kill some of those friggin bugs up there. thank you for update .. Ontario such a great place to enjoy outdoors and hunt.. nothing like it.. |

It's gone from the open areas but still some in the woods. Lakes still have ice. The deer that live in the aggricultural areas should have fared better but I expect a poor fawn crop overall. I hope that the wolves suffered but I suspect that most survived; which will threaten the deer further. Sam |
