well had to make a change since there are no jobs around here, nwo is near dead. I had two choices running a bulldozer in Hearst Ontario , or running a grapple skidder in Swan River Manitoba . Hearst is about 6 hrs east of thunder bay and swan river about 6 hrs north of winnipeg .

I picked the manitoba job for two reasons, my son is in swan river and i havent seen him in over two years and sad to say but the hunting was a big factor. Manitoba has always had the spring bear hunt and off course they have moose and elk.

will be leaving around the first week of june and pretty excited about it all , vehicle insurance is cheaper , hydro is cheaper at least a guy has a chance out there. I dont feel ontario has much to offer most people anymore and the hunter gets less options all the time.

Sounds like a good move for you Shane. I hope all goes well and it works out. I'm sure the hunting will be a big bonus, looking forward to see how you make out with that.

Good luck on your new venture.

It's never fun pulling up stakes, but it does sound a bit exciting.

Good luck on your new adventure. Nice to be near your son. A lot of people leaving it seems like. Most out to Alberta. My brother went to BC even though he would have liked to stay in NW Ontario. Poor support and long term decision making from both provincial and federal governments here in Ontario. Sad.

Shane, Sorry to see you go. Was hoping to stop by once in a while & visit a bit this coming year.
Feel bad, but you will be able to be close to your boy. "That is big." I did PM you but I don't think I sent it through correctly.
Are you planning on staying on the forum? Can let us know what it's like over there...

Hanover, Ontario.

Sounds like there are a few good reasons for you to move. Congrats on the new opportunity and getting to be near your son. It is a shame that Ontario has become a "has not" province.

Good luck with your new job. It's tough pulling up stakes and moving on but a man still has to feed his family. I know lots of guys who work out in Alberta and only come home every 3rd or 4th week. Pretty soon there won't be any middle class left in this country. You will be either working for minimum wage or a corporate executive -except there won't be many executives.

Glad to hear. I know these moves are tough but sometimes they end up working out a lot better and in hindsight you look back and are happy they happened. Can't wait to see how the hunting works out for you too.
