just wondering when is the latest it can be planted in season and return in fall, and if there is a variety that can handle wet fields at times

I am no expert but alfalfa does not survive in the wet areas of a field. I am not sure on the best timing for planting but would think anytime in May or June would be fine.

Alfalfa will likely handle wet fields, unless you've got cat-tails growing. However it wont do well, and it will likely be overgrown with weeds that prefer heavy soils. For a good yield you should plant it before July, but don't fall seed it. You'll also want to make sure the soil Ph is as close to neutral as possible, and spread a fertilizer that is high in Potassium and phosphorous.

i have areas in fied that get wet enough thatthe clover dies but most area the clover thrives and its on the wet spring / fall that does the damage
