Atikokan, Ontario

You have to laugh. There is no doubt that the worst roads in Ontario are all in NW Ontario. You got to shake your head at urban Ontario's self importance. Anyone drive around Atikokan? No Local Roads Crack Top 10 By CKDR News - May 28th, 2014 - 12:09pm Shut out once again! For the fifth straight year no road has made the top 10 in the Canadian Automobile Association Worst Roads campaign. The 2014 contest has wrapped up with Dufferin Road in Toronto winning top honour for the third consecutive year. The remainder of the top ten were either located in Toronto or elsewhere in southern Ontario. |

I live in the extreme Southwestern part of Ont. About halfway between London and Windsor. Almost as bad here. Roads and bridges are crap. Not enough votes here just like N Ontario. The manufacturing/automotive industries that were the biggest employers here have pretty much left in droves. The Ag business is the biggest employer now. In the last provincial election this part of the province voted PC pretty much except for a very few ridings. The arrogance of urban Ontario is very obvious here too. The tax dollars only seem to flow one way!! Willy Edited by willy 9889, May 28 2014, 05:41 PM.

I think they vote on the worst roads to see who wins. I know all 6 people in Atikokan voted twice but 12 wasn't enough to crack the top 10.

The best street in rainy river is a gravel street at least the can run the grader down it. Pot holes and patched holes in the rest of the town. Bumps signs all over north of town . There are some paved roads around I can't take my car on . We're just used to it I guess as its been like this for years . No secret Toronto gets all the money for roads Edited by Shane, May 29 2014, 07:23 AM.

Why are the roads so bad up there? I thought the permafrost kept them in great shape. LOL |
