With the Provincial Election just a week away, everyone has to be getting geared up for it.........I am not a huge political person, but will say that I feel Ontario has become a sh*t province to live in, and the cuts made to the MNR and our fish and wildlife resources are tragic. But who can you really trust to right that? Liberals have made the mess in my eyes, PC wants to take my job, and started the cuts to the MNR in the first place and can we trust the NDP after their last turn at the helm? I am not trying to endorse the OFAH but I found this on their website and it provides a little insight into where each party stands in regards to fish and wildlife management in Ontario. NDP does provide a pretty good response to the questions versus Hudak's "Million Jobs Plan, Million Jobs Plan!!" response. The parties responses' to the questions help people decide. http://www.ofah.org/election2014

I found Mr. Hudak's response very lame with no mention of any of the OFAH issues. Not once did he state anything about hunting or fishing just his plans to create jobs. So Mr. Hudak is out for me. During the early 1990's I voted for Bob Rae and NDP's and that was a big mistake and I promised myself never to vote for them again, but they did respond to the questions. I guess we have to see what the other remaining parties have to say about these issues before I cast my vote. Friggs |

Sadly Hudak is a joke. I really believe his IQ is south of 100. Million jobs plan is rediculous, just a number picked out of thin air and to start by eliminating 100,000 jobs. lol. I am not going to bother listing the 101 reasons why the Ontario conservatives got it wrong. We currently have a liberal in my riding Bill Mauro and he has been doing an excellent job. He has supported spring bear hunt, scrapping long gun registry and has helped save jobs and promote industry in the Atikokan area. He has also helped get some much needed infrastructure money for the region. One of the few bright spots on the political scene in my opinion. Yes the liberals have some gaffs and scandals but that does not outweigh the positives they bring, especially for my riding. |

Yeah I guess you have to look at it from the riding perspective more closely rather than just at the provincial scale .....we are all blue here.....and I believe our MPP has helped voice concerns about hunting and fishing rights at Queens Park, but he also hasn't helped with the matters by bullying the MNR District to issue nuisance deer tags to buddy landowners....no way I could cast my vote for to keep him in. |

Who really gives a rats ass about the billions of dollars wasted by the liberals anyway. I mean really, its just money and lies right? Perhaps if those billions had not been blown/embezzled we wouldnt need to cut jobs. But who knows and who cares. Lets vote them in again, what the hell eh. If you ran your household the way the liberals run this provance you would be bankrupt and living on the street. |

I am a conservative living in a hardcore liberal riding. My vote gets wasted every time, as all the civil servants & teachers & union members that live here always vote the liberals in. I don't know why I bother voting anymore, but I'm stubborn, lol. I agree with Corman; if we ran our business like the liberals run this province we would all be bankrupt! |

I'll likely be voting PC - not for any positive reason, but because they seem to be the least of evils. Both the NDP and current generation Liberals have at some level taken an anti-gun or anti hunting stance. The federal PCs (which thankfully are no more) had adopted an anti-gun stance before their demise, and I'm hoping the provincial remnant of that party has learned from their mistake. |

I will be voting PC. I don't like Hudak but he is hands down the lesser of the evils. All the damage the libs have done to this province is inexcusable. I would vote NDP before I vote liberal again. Imagine blowing 1.1 BILLION dollars and having the balls to ask to be re-elected. Do they really think people are that stupid? Sadly the CITIOTS in Tornto will vote liberal no matter what, they have their sense of entitlement to the rest of our tax dollars. |

10.3 billion a year in interest payments on a debt that liberals want to increase , could you only imagine what that money could do for the people of this province , a vote for the liberal party is a vote to send this province to the brink of bankruptcy , so I'd suggest to think long and hard about that before voting for them |

If you think that corruption is just in one party over another... you should pull your head out of the sand. They are all corrupt to some extent. We just hear about it more because there is more accountability now(media). I will bet the farm that things are less corrupt now than in the past. Ontario is a dying province. If we reduce high paying public sector jobs and reduce other jobs such as teachers and nurses. Than who is going to drive the economy. In last few years these sectors have already experienced major cuts and we complain on here all the time in the reduction of provincial services. So reduce them more I am sure creating 1 million jobs at Timmy Hoe's isn't going to bring our economy back. Privatization of public sector isn't the answer. The ultra rich will just get richer. The average joe will be screwed even more and will probably have a reduction in there yearly earnings. We our loosing industries left and right. The industries that still exist seem to just survive. Times change and provinces have to change with the times. Reducing higher paying jobs to create lower paying jobs doesn't make sense. If you really want the wheels to come off than believe what you want. But if you a carpenter or mechanic don't think you'll business will boom with a change. Who will require your services if no one can afford to build houses or buy summer camps or new vehicles. The only way to have a healthy economy is to have a balance of the two. The economy is still struggling from the last recession I personally believe that a major change wouldn't be in the best interest of the province at this moment being that its so fragile. A big change will be the nail in Ontario's coffin. We as a province need to focus on bringing in and developing new industries. We can't continue on the same path. We have to develop the North and chase the mining projects in the north. If we don't our province will die. So the people in the rest of the province have to be on board. Other provinces have done it why cant Ontario... We are just hanging onto the past hoping that the old steel mill or auto plant will fire up and create jobs. Think new... that's what creates jobs and is the future.

Nwo is already dead , we have watched it decline year after year . Less jobs than ever befor and people my age ( 50 ) who have lived here all there lives are heading west . Everything under the sun costs more and those who choose to stay for minimum wage will suffer a slow death so to speak . Does it matter what party is voted in now ? For now it's to late . Everyone's closing business's and calling it quits. In rainy river right now we have a drugstore , true value hard ware , a bakery and a grocery store and one restaurant . We have the legion but the old people don't drink and there's no young people . No gas station and only the restaurant . We used to have two bars and the legion , two gas stations , three restaurants , a convenience store , a 5 and dime store , a lumber and hardware store , a theatre , a pool hall and arcade , a car wash , a laundry mat . A flower and gift store Mostly senior citizens here now who will never leave and they keep dieing. There's even talk of shutting the schools down and shipping the kids an hour one way to fort France's . All the small towns in nwo are in the same boat. Doesn't matter what party is in power it will never bring these small towns back |

"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." .... Mark Twain His ideas are punitive, not embracing or innovative. Nothing in his platform is well thought out. It's as if he has no economic advisors. And nothing is good for the individual. Nothing for families. Nothing is fleshed out and explained. When asked about these issues his response is that "this is not a popularity contest." That is a dated response. Of course it's a popularity contest. Policies that impact our well being are either popular or not. A centrist PC candidate would have been a slam dunk but no, we get stuck with a Hudak. So now it is looking like a liberal minority. |

I would assume if Hudak does not get elected the PC's will be looking for a new leader. I hope. I am not impressed with any of the candidates and their platforms. The answer lies somewhere in between the two extremes. There is no doubt we need to improve the efficiency of the broad public sector and we need to address the provincial debt. Hudak is taking this head on but his plan I fear would just make things worse at this point. If the PC's managed a minority government, they wouldn't be able to implement their plans and maybe we would see some compromises. It will be a close election. |

How is everyone's electricity bills in the north? We all know where they are headed if the Liberals stay in power. Anyone think it would bring manufacturing back into this province if we lowered energy costs and taxes for corporations like the PC's would like to do? Maybe some of those 100,000 public sector folks could find work in the private sector then.....off the sunshine list of course

If a smoking monkey ran I would vote him in. At least I could trust him more and I would know his plan would be better. The big manufacturing good paying jobs are gone..... say good bye. All newer manufacturing jobs pay a lot less now than they did in the past. The only way the big manufacturing jobs are coming back is you lower hydro rates abolish unions and WSIB and reduce the trad. work force wages. And Maybe they might come back. All the Party's plans are just pipe dreams in reality. We do have to realize that North America is still recovering from a recession. Alot of federal and provincial money was spent to boost the economy(any party would have done this). So off course we acquired a huge dept. Every country in the world did and a lot of there economies are still unstable. We live in a great country and have lots of opportunities. We just have to pick the right ones. Hanging on to the past will be our provinces down fall. |

I will be voting PC. NOT because I support the Ontario PCs, in fact I can't stand them. I will be voting for the PCs because the Liberal party of Ontario needs to be kicked out. I keep hearing about the "1.1 Billion dollar gasplant scandal," and it's infuriating. What really makes me mad though, is that people see the big "1.1 Billion" and don't look at the fact that that is the tip of the iceberg. Since coming in to Office in Ontario, McGinty's red party PISSED away nearly $50,000,000,000. The gas plant cancellation is nothing. They have been throwing money away on green energy initiatives, paying more than 3 times the retail rates for electricity that we don't need, can't use, and can't sell. There are now American and Chinese companies buying farmland just to build solar farms, because OPG is paying such ridiculous prices for "green energy." There are windmills which have been built with electric motors inside to spin the turbines, because if there's no wind, they can use hydro to spin the blades, and still make money. WTF???? The Liberals have turned Ontario from a "Have" to a "Have-not" province, and the only reason they are being supported by the various unions, is because they've been throwing money at those unions for years. Just because the "OPP Association" supports the Liberals doesn't actually mean the OPP do, remember that. The Liberal party has run up the most ridiculous deficit the province has ever had, and doesn't even seem to care. They haven't even made an effort to balance a budget, even though they promise to do so within 3 years. The PC party has run an absolutely terrible campaign. All they had to do was offer a balanced budget. Even a plan TO balance the budget. But no, they decided to promise this moronic million jobs plan. I am tempted to spoil my ballot, because I believe that none of the parties deserve the office. However, I'm worried that if I do that, the Liberals will win again, and that is unnacceptable. I also believe that the Liberal party of Ontario should be held accountable for money spent on their party's behalf. Sure, mistakes happen. But anything that they did to further their own interest at the expense of the province, they should have to pay back to the province. Starting with the 1.1 Billion they paid to clinch a single riding. I urge everyone on here to consider the bigger picture, the entire province, not just their own riding, Because the Liberals certainly don't seem to be considering it at all. Vote anything but liberal. |

Ontario is crumbling and I can't see anything putting it back together. 95 percent of the wealth in north anerica is owned by 1 percent of the population. There's no way out of this , the filthy rich are not going to let anything change. I'm hesitant to even write this post as I know how political discussion a can turn sour in a hurry , but I feel I should comment , first a little background , I'm 38 years old a self employed business owner and for the past 3.5 years I've been an elected municipal councillor , I've got first hand experience what the liberal policy has done to the province , I've spent hours in meetings due to a green energy project that is not wanted in our community and is being forced upon us by the liberals and a multi- national corporation that if they were in any other business they would be run out for the blatant unethical business practices and outright lies , I've seen the cuts in provincial funding to every. Municipality in my county to the point were out of of 300 municipalites we shouldered 10 percent of the province wide cuts , would that have happened if the liberals had not wasted billions of dollars ? I've seen the unelected premier parade around on tv handing out gift cards door to door in Toronto after the ice storm , all the while trying to budget for cleanup costs incurred on my municipality by 2 ice storms and being told by the same unelected premiers office that because the amount of damage was only 2.5 percent of our taxation base for the first storm we could suck it up , hey what's 250,000 dollars to a small municipality right ? Opp increase last year of 8.5 percent , anyone else get a raise like that ? The costs of servicing the debt in this province are the 3 largest cost in the budget , that is unsustainable , and will break this province in the very near future if it's not addressed , did you know that a municipality cannot legally run a deficit and has laws to follow regarding how much debt it can carry , I'd like a straight answer from the provincial government why they can't follow the model they force others to follow . I will vote P.C. Because they are the only party with the guts to stand there and tell the people of this province the truth about the past spending and waste of tax dollars , I'm disappointed that they haven't articulated their plan better for the general public to understand , honestly if anyone can't see the bloat in the public sector and doesn't believe that we can reduce it 100000 jobs of the next 4 years I'm not sure what to say , the fear mongers in the public service unions will have you believe ontario will fall apart without these jobs and it's just not true . We need less costs to start to balance the budget and pay down the debt , that's the way the real world works , if you at home don't have the money to spend and your credit is maxed you have to make some tough choices and this province needs the same . As far as the province falling apart because of the lose of these jobs in the public sector that's nothing but nonsense , private business be it small business or large corporations are what drives the economy because the are producers that create tax dollars through profit , how long do you think things could run without them ? Were do some people think the tax dollars to pay the public service come from ? I can tell you through discussion with many business owners both big and small until this province fixes the mess the liberals have put us in fiscally and fixes energy costs through a real world energy policy and reduces red tape and gets out of the way that more job creation is not going to happen |

If you think the job losses in the public sector will be the high paying sunshine list makers your smokin some good stuff. The average middle class worker will be out a job and business will eventually suffer. If the high end exc. jobs could be cut than all aboard and I am in... But that's not what will happen. If you believe they will roll one up for me... |

I do believe we need change but not when the economy is so fragile. It's kicking the horse when it's down. Voting PC won't fix ont. at this point it will only hurt us. The public sector is the only driver in many small towns. Take a town like Nipigon only driver there is the public sector. At one point it was forestry. But you Take that away and you kill that town. Should that town exist than..... Maybe not. But I feel the residence would beg to differ. |

sad but true...........

I am sure creating 1 million jobs at Timmy Hoe's isn't going to bring our economy back.
