What is the hunting pressure on the deer herd compared to here in Ontario?
Had anyone lived out there?

From what I have gathered hunting pressure varies out west but it is certainly not going to be as heavy as NW Ontario units that allow non-residents to buy tags over the counter without any regard for numbers of hunters. Non-resident land owners should be given tags but non-landowners should have to apply in a draw for tags. That is one of the reasons why Thunder Bay unit 13 is a great trophy hunting unit, no non-resident hunters, a resource solely for Ontario residents. The amount of guided hunters and leased up land in unit 10 is unreal. I have 5 different outfitters that lease land within 5 miles of my farm. I lost permission for a nice 480 acre parcel because of outfitters. I am sick of them. They do not give anything back to the deer herd. Take take take, giving nothing back. They will shoot up the 2.5 and 3.5 year old bucks. Look at the amount of available deer habitat in Sask and Alta. It is a lot bigger area than all of Ontario's deer habitat by a long shot.

Thanks Rene, That is exactly what I was wondering about...
