I'll be getting our plots ready shortly. Our main fields will be first then the deer food plots. I'll spray them towards the end of May when most of our corn is already in. Once again I'll be using the Rackstacker food plot blends I have got 30 lbs of three varieties on hand at this point, 10lbs of amplified, 10lbs of Field edge and 10lbs of Big uns. I'm Alonso going to be running our existing mineral site with RS Glory and Blaze but will likely add a second one in the north end of the property as I found over the winter the deer from the north were travelling to the existing mineral site on the southern side to get mineral. This way late in the season the does that have been bred can stay where they feel safe an not travel far. |

I have four 1/2 acre plots give or take alittle on each. I'm spraying roundup weather max as we are a license farm an I have my pesticide license, using our big 500 gal farm spray that will be calibrated to spray 3.125 litres of roundup per Ha. |

The RS blends work well for you MJewell?? Just starting to plan plots here and was thinking about giving it a whirl in one spot....did one blend outperform others? Sounds like you got your property well under control

I've tried Field Edge and Amplified, found the rape in Field Edge went to seed and it took me two seasons to get rid of it with Glyphosate. I think I planted it to early like end of May. Most of those brassica's mature and go to seed in 10-14 weeks. I would shoot for 8-10 weeks before your hard frost, like maybe early to mid July to plant. Never tried or heard of Big-uns Radishes looks good in the website photo. I usually buy Tillage radish seed at $3.00 to $4.00 per pound and usually plant them in a mixture at 6-8 pounds per acre. I wouldn't plant them alone because once there all eaten nothing is left for your herd. Plant them with a grain like oats, rye or wheat if planting alone. Also tried both there minerals and my deer liked them. Good idea with the mineral placement. Good luck with your plantings. Friggs |

All plots are planted raked and rolled. But as I planted my last plot I came upon a grizzly scene where just last night a group of local coyotes had caught an killed one of our week old fawns on the edge of the food plot. So know it will be an all out war on coyotes to even the score. |
