Thought this would be interesting to see which is the favourite on this Forum. If you have multiple that are listed, please select the one you use most.

300 min mag is my choice, I bet 30-06 or 308 come on top because thats what everyone has been using for 30 years!

I have a few different potential moose killers but since the 30-06 is the only gun in my safe that has taken a moose I'll go with it.

.270 for me, theres another guy in our gang that uses it as well. The other use 30-06, 303british, 300 win mag.
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

I use either a 7mm rem mag or a .350 rem mag depending on cover.

I have a 270 and a 30-06. I use the 06 for moose and bear, that gun is money!!! It's a savage 110, not a fancy gun but works every time. I have thought about retiring it to the wall because I scored a "grand slam" with that gun. Deer, moose, bear in one year.

The big thing to me is shooting something you shoot well and are comfortable with. Could be a 270 could be a 338 win mag, as long as you know you can make a quick clean kill.

I use the mighty .338 win mag. This round has some detractors due to it's recoil but those of us that do use it love it. You can't deny it's performance. Some people think because you use a bigger caliber it gives you a cushion on the shot placement. That is not true, shot placement is everything. To me, if your not comfortable with the recoil of the rifle, then move down a few steps and use a recoil freindly caliber like a 270, 308, 30-06 ect. By the way, I use .280 rem for deer as well. :D

The .338 win mag is a great moose round. I used it myslf for about 20 years and many dead moose. I got tired of the muzzle blast as mine was setup with a muzzle brake, thats the only thing I didn't like about that round.

Tha must of been one hell of a loud blast. Hope your hunting partners weren't to close when you fired a shot off lol))). I shoot mine straight pipe, no muzzle break. It gives a pretty good honk but you get used to it lol.

I had a KDH brake on it and it actually came with a disclaimer stating this device would do permanent ear damage. Which over time it did do. The KDF reduced recoil by about 40% on the big rifle but it doubles the muzzle blast, very brutal.

For years I used my .308 for everything but when I could afford a moose rifle I went with the 300 WinMag. Now saying I am a small guy is putting it very mildly but the way I have my 300 set up it actually doesn't kick any more than the 08. Actually I think it has less felt recoil and you can drive tacks with it.

I used a 308 Remington 742 for 10 years and have changed to a 270 Win in Remington 7600 for the past 3 years. Its an awesome rifle accuracy wise and the 270 Winchester drops everything I have shot at (Moose, deer, bear and caribou).

When I am using a rilfe which is rare these days my trusty 30-06 is the one. Just to versatile a gun. I had to buy one for everything so this was it, the grain selection of bullets is amazing.

I have used several calibers over the years but since my shoulder injury, I've stayed with my .308 Sako. Low recoil, less pain and it hits exactly where I aim it.Caliber doesn't make much difference to me. More shot placement and the right bullet.

I started moose hunting with the .30-06 but for the last ten years I've been using a .338 Remington Ultra Mag. Very powerful and accurate.

Started my moose hunting with a 30-06 pump and there is no questioning the effectivness of the 06 up to 400 yds or better. However I started carrying a rem mtn rifle in 280 rem(much lighter combination) and i've come to the conclusion that i do a lot more carrying than i do shooting so for me this remains my go to moose and deer rifle.

Place i used to hunt we dogged the moose out to the watchers, always carried my 06 carbine and it performed very well. My sitting gun is the Tikka 300, when i want to reach out and smack em, this gun does the trick.
For the past 3 seasons i have done archery only, next year might do a week of archery and a few days of gun, the 300 will be packed for that trip

If anyone is feeling particularly masochistic today D&R sports in TBay has a nice little model 7 Titanium in 300WSM that ought to rattle a few fillings loose for you. Somtimes light is just wrong, and this would be one of those times.Fellow that traded it in felt bit kicked too much. No kidding.

Wooses. I have a Remington Custom shop model 7 in .350 rem mag. That rifle with its Kevlar stock weighs in at 5 7/8 lbs before scope & rings. Hasn't knocked me out of a treestand yet but there usually aren't many leaves left still up after I light it up ....... lol)))

If I'm hunting the thick stuff I use a Bar .30-06.
For the wide open cutovers of NW Ontario, a 7mm Rem Mag.
For a combination of the above, a .325 WSM.

I've shot two moose with the .30-06. And one with the 450 marlin. Both cartridges performed as well as one another.
I'd rather be Moose hunting.
