Instead of the cull, they could trade some wolves from Ontario for some moose from Newfoundland. haha

Sorry fellas, it wouldn't help the Newfs. They already have a some wolves there but they don't bother much with the moose. They go after the dumb cariboo because they are a lot easier and safer to take down. Mind you I'd love to help them "cull" a nice bull or two.

We don't have wolves here in Newfoundland but we are being over populated by coyotes and yes they are killing a lot of our caribou and young moose

I'd gladly give them a hand. :fudd: One article said they want to cull thousands of moose. That sure would be a lot of sore backs.

Talked to our local trapper yesterday and he said he caught a "Newfoundland wolf"
Of course I had to ask how he knew the wolf was from Newfoundland.

He explained that he caught the wolf in a leg trap. The wolf has chewed off three legs and is still in the trap.

Funny joke there Thor. What is the reason for the moose cull? Northshore.

I would call that a "delete" !!!!

:funnypost: Their saying the moose are just overpopulated and worried about the forest tree's. Here is a link about the cull.

hey you guys watch what you wish for. down here in the states out in northern rockies the wolves are hurting the elk pop. big time. wolf pop. has gotton out of control the hunting was banned for wolves for to long. montana issued 15,603 licenses last year. idaho sold26,428 tags.licensed hunters killed only about 225 wolves in both states.....later

The reason we are currently enjoying a Moose explosion in the New England states is because we don't have wolves. ME, VT, and NH have to keep raising the number of moose license every year (which is great for us hunters) and MA and CT are discussing opening Moose seasons in the near future. NY may follow suit. :allright:
I'd rather be Moose hunting.

That is great news. Meanwhile, we have too many wolves in Ontario and regulations have been changing to make it tougher to hunt wolves. Hard to believe!

So you can't just shoot wolves whenever you see them then? Here in the northeast US coyotes can be shot anytime with no bag limit by licensed hunters. And VT dropped the licensed hunters stipulation so coyotes can be shot anywhere, anytime, by anybody there.
I'd rather be Moose hunting.

In NW Ontario you have to go to an MNR office and by a freaking tag to shoot a wolf and you are only allowed two in a year!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Insane stupidity. Used to be you could shoot them with a small game licence. That changed a few years ago.

Wow, they never should have changed that law. Less wolves=more moose. More moose=more opportunities for hunters.
I'd rather be Moose hunting.

I wish the non-resident wolf tag wasn't so much money. I know acouple of us would make the trip for some wolf hunting.

I assume coyote and wolves like dogs have 2 litters a year. Seems why the can over run areas that takes it's toll on game like Whitetail,Moose,Caribou.....later
