Not too sure about the vide, but if you listen carefully at 6 & 26 seconds, focus on the end of the call ....

The "cri du hibou" is used by a lot of great hunters in Quebec

this might not be the best video but I think there is something to learn here on a very interesting call

I will agree it is not the best sound video clip of the cri du hibou (for some), but not two moose make the excact sounds. You can easily find howl calls on the Internet (over 200 species in the World, with different sounds of calls for different situation).

Even when I do it, I don't sound exactly like what was learned from my training in the woods with Michel Breton on his scouting, hunting techniques visit in the Outaouais a few years ago.

Hey!, I don't even recognise my own voice when I hear it on a tape recorder, or camcorder.

Had the opportunity this past wednesday to go and chat with Michel Breton. He did not recognized my face, since the last time I saw him (I had a beard), but he recognized my voice immediatly and called my name. My 6'4" may have also helped him put two & two together.

Anyway, he re-imphasized his knowledge & belief of the "cri-du-hibou" and stands by it. As he said, until you live the experience, you will be septical. This guy catches moose every year and guides anywhere in the Province of Quebec. I believe in his techniques and him being a good mentor.

Good luck and have fun hunting.

I'm not knocking you here but I have to ask. If the Cri du hibou is for real, why does it seem to be completely unknown outside of Quebec?
I'd rather be Moose hunting.

Maybe because like other things, some people don't share their knowledge.

You know of how many moose hunters that use "Ecoforestry" maps that specifies all grouping of different tree species, and identify by translating the forestry codes to determine the bedding, feeding, etc. etc. knowledge these maps to potential locate where the "Dominant Moose" might be holding?

Well in QC, there is a lot since a few years ago.

I've searched the internet for moose vocalizations and can't find a sound like this anywhere. I wish I could ask Jerry Waldhuber or Rob Remus about this. Those guys know their moose calling and they'd know about it.
I'd rather be Moose hunting.

Ah yes. They are readily available in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Sask. and BC. They are not something new? Just a different name and yes they are used by hunters in Canada.

Next try?

monks, can you provide me with the name of the similar type of map in Ontario (to start with) and where I can obtain one, cause MapWorld doesn't offer them when I enquired a few years ago and the Ministry of Natural Resources Office in Kanata, also did not have any for public distribution.

So it would be appreciated.

Here is a French link showing a portion of one of the maps I'm referring to. See the various codes and green countours of the categorized tree species / ground levels / Hight of threes / etc. / etc.

http://coindelacarte.com/carte/produit/3.html

As for the Cri-Du-Hibou, many hunters in QC have used it and obtained success. Maybe it's in the way some people apply it (if they have ever tried to) that moose don't always respond to their call (individual's that is).

monks, this is not a provocation, I really would like to know the name and where they are available. Lots of info that can be interpreted in these maps from the codes.

I did not forget what you had posted in the past.
