For the past five years our group has been hunting WM27 with good success, the only problem is year after year we need 14+ guys to have a guarantied bull tag. We are thinking of changing to WM26 b/c of the reduced numbers this year. If anybody hunted there before and is willing to share info we would very much appreciate the input.
Thanks Gaza

I hunt WMU 26, we have filled our bull tag everyyear but one (6 for 7) including a couple calves over the years. I cant tell you where to go but can tell you get as deep into the bush as possible, find a dead end road/clear cut and start there, there are ALOT of road warriors and bird hunters I find in this area, we hunt pretty much the 27/26 border and turn as soon as we cross the Chin river (cant tell you much more). As you notice in the regs, it is the only WMU that dosn't have a bow season, the rifle starts sometime in mid Sept and runs though Oct 31. We have made some great friends with some people from Cochrane that hunt the same general area as us only they hunt opening week. I believe they are around 50% in filling there bull tag every year. We scout the first few days and then hunt hard until we get our bull, then its cards and beverages for the rest of Thanksgiving week.... Do your homework and scout hard, there are alot of moose in 26, I show guys pictures of the moose we shoot and laugh at guys that say there isnt moose there, then they go all the way to Dryden and come home empty handed.... Dont let the group size fool you, there are plenty of moose....

Thanks for the info 300 winmag greatly appreciated. Regarding the moose numbers I completely agree with you in the past 5 years we shoot 4 bull moose in 27, we hunt near the Quebec - Ontario border on the peninsula near LA Raine QC. It is unfortunate that the numbers required for a guarantied tag are so high in 27 this is forcing our group to look for other options.
