Ok

So we know many of us go to great lengths to scout for deer, cameras, food plots, minera licks, tree stands, shooting lanes, shed hunting etc. What about the moose. Anyone here spend as much time as I do on moose as deer.

To date

Trails cut, 5 miles for canoe access
Cameras Out with 12 volt batteries and solar panels
Lanes cut for archery
New Camp site located and cleared
Previous year rut pits found
Fallin trees cut on major creeks for canoe access
Still to pack in food, supplies and gear and cut firewood for 2010

Your preparations are great. I used to scout areas so that I could figure out access and ambush locations. You having been doing it by water, I have done it on the ground close to water. I plan to do some quad adventures and walking and identify some possible locations myself before the fall.

My partner and I went to our moose hunting clearings early this spring before the bugs come out. We cleared all the fallen trees from the winter, refilled our salt licks with salt, this year we put out two mineral blocks as we have two hidden clearings that we hunt. We also fixed up our blinds, we will let it be quiet all summer and head back a couple weeks before the moose hunting season begins. Northshore.

I spend a week hunting bears and getting my liver ready

I don't really hunt to seriously for moose, for me it is a great week's vacation. I get to go hunt with guys I see only once or twice a year. We take the first day or 2 and look for the freshest sign.

I wish I lived closer to moose hunting territory. They are such incredible creatures to watch.

I don't drive that far, about half the distance I guess, would love to do the scouting for moose but just don't have the time. I should consider it since this will be my 4th yr and not seen a moose yet (personally) always get one with the group though
you can't shoot em on the couch, go out and get em!
