All I got from his texts were it was about a 2 year old bull, so I assume a small rack and smaller body size. He texted me back and says he`s got pics and is going to send them to me.

talked to Lonewolf last night, he has called in a few real nice moose for people which i am sure he will talk about when he gets back.
last one called in was 4 yards away from the archer, problem was a black spruce between the hunter and the moose

Can't wait, only 1 more sleep till we head up

My gang & I leave for camp on Sat.. I drew an archery cow tag for WMU 48. We just got back from a scouting trip where we saw 7 moose. It's looking better than last year when we got skunked. Hopefully better luck this season. Good luck to everyone!

We just got back the other day and a buddy of mine shot a bull at six yards. The best part is he brought his 14 year old son with him for the first time and he was right there to see it all happen. :wow:
Couple days later I called in another bull but luckily for him we didn't have another bull tag :crazy2:

We had 2 encounters on nice bulls ,unfortunately 1 of our guys was busted when the bull was 8 feet from him ,he wasn't able to get a shot due to the black spruce and I guess scent control may or may not have been an issue,we had severel encounters with other moose ,but being real close on 2 bulls was pretty exciting . We encountered the second bull on our way back to camp Fri at 11:45am,unfortunately the bull was forced off the road by a car as I ran down through the ditch trying to get in position for a shot ,if the car had just held up for 5 seconds ,I'm sure we would have taken this bull down ,He got inside the bushline and then vanished without making noise in the bush, close but no shots .This wasn't a case of scent control ,it was a case of just not having enough time to get into position. We had other encounters as well going right down to the wire with 1 of our guys having not 1 but 2 bulls near his location ,but unfortunately running out of shooting light . Other encounters were with not 1 or 2 ,but severel cows ,but out of range.

I think in all we had 10 encounters with moose this week,so it was actually a pretty exciting hunt moose.

Not sure what Ian is rfering to about who had the bull tag ,but it was myself .

Never did see that 60+ again, sureshot. Althought, in the area that he's hanging out in, it's a very good chance for him to evade the gun hunters. He didn't get that big for being stupid. We'll go back after that Giant next year, so hopefully he makes it through this rifle season. That big bull would have blown the current record right outta of the water, hands down. I'm sure there would be something posted somewhere on the net, if someone were to ever take that monster down.

Set a guy up one morning early in the second week at a lake where a cow had been bawling the evening/night before and still bawling that morning, where I knew there was a 50+ hanging around (same one called out into the cut for your buddy from PA that one afternoon and wind shifted). Fella saw that bull up close and personal, real close and personal, but no shot taken because of a spruce tree between the hunter and the animal. Oh well, that's bow hunting...

Things started to slow down on the 3rd week. Got a couple of answers, but that was about it.Then the orange army started coming in starting Wednesday night, and come Thursday, they really started to pile in. Did see a young bull at the side of the road wanting to cross the highway as I was coming back from town. Got to 50 yards of him at full draw trying to get a broadside shot on him, but he was gone back into the bush before I could hook around him. A cow and calf were also seen at the same spot that evening by our other guys.

Was great hunting with you guys, sureshot.

We hope to see you's back up there next season.
