We are thinking about going hunting in a area where we can only shoot a calf. Has anybody everyshot a calf and left the cow. Does the cow give you problems?
What do you do if it does give you a hassle

Hanover, Ontario.

If you shoot the calf and the cow stays, leave it for an hour or so. The cow will wander away. Just be careful getting it out. DO NOT go back in by yourself to clean it.

I shot a calf a year ago and the cow and a small bull stayed for a while. I just backed out and got help to gut and drag it out. No problems.

I dumped a cow a few years back about half an hour after some other guys dumped the 2 calves. She hung out like crazy, answered every call and never really got too far away. The guys said she came within about 10 feet of them wanting those calves back.

Almost forgot, it is a wild animal so be very cautious around an angry cow moose. Stay away like mentioned earlier and she will eventually leave......BUT, if things go crazy and you are forced to defend yourself, make sure the first thing you do after changing your underwear is contact the MNR ASAP!
