Monster Whitetail Addict

I've been hounded a little to post this so here it is. I've been extremely busy since I returned last weekend. Well, I thought shooting mature bucks with an arrow was a rush. Nothing could prepare me for arrowing this bull. He presented me with an ever so slight quartering to shot at 30yds on the very windy overcast evening of Monday September 20. I spotted him crossing an open area I was watching. He was grunting with every step. I chose to stalk closer and try to intercept him. When I decided I was close enough I ranged him. It read 30 and he stopped to look at me. When I came to full draw and had my pin settled on his chest I realized one of my blades of my 3-blade Rage was deployed from the atv ride. I let down and made sure all the blades were seated and the bull held his position. I drew again and settled my pin just behind his shoulder. I don't really remember touching off the release but I will always remember the sound of the arrow hitting him. As he spun and headed straight away I could see my arrow sticking out of his side so I grunted at him quickly. He stopped and faced me. I ranged him again at around 52. As I reached for another arrow he tipped over. I double lunged him and my arrow was stopped dead by an opposite side rib which I hit dead on. I left him and headed back to camp and the rest is history. He tapes 49". Pretty lucky for my second year mose hunting. Here's a couple pics.

The very next morning after a night of celebrating I was lucky enough to be part of another kill. We went to a spot where a buddy and I called a huge bull into 90yds and gave us a show Monday morning. Our first call was answered and within 15 mins and about 50 grunts later he was at 25 yards and all I could see was his head. There were four of us set up along the old cut road and my 2 buddies to my right each had shots and zipped arrows through him. A nice young bull down and our bull tags were gone on Tuesday morning. Here's a pic of the 2nd bull.

How come every time I've ever seen a picture of Gooder, he's holding a monster rack in his hands and has a grin from ear to ear?

Congrats man.

So much for a mech head not working on moose. Congrats on your first. There is nothing like bow hunting moose in the rut. If you hit it right it is amazing. Isn't it amazing how sometimes they will just stand there and stare you down. So much for deer hunting
