Well I've finally found the time to get some pics loaded.

Had a good year here in the North. Spent the first week of archery with buddy Brett from Minn..
While we did not connect we had a cow & four bulls come to the call over 5 days before the weather went south.
Highlight of the week was a solid 50 inch that spent 5 minutes destroying some bushes at 50 yards but in the end no good shot was offered so Brett passed.
Had another in the high 50's come to 80 yards and do a stare-off but wouldn't come in.
Second week was tougher still with warm winds and high hunter numbers.
Hunting with 21 year old kyle from Wisconsin was a good time and we quickly formed a good team.
On the fourth morning of our hunt we had a half hour of ideal conditions in the am until the wind picked up as the sun crested the horizon.
I had discussed a contingency plan with Kyle in the event that this happened again so we hustled back out to the truck and hit the road. We decided to simply cover some ground and see is we could cut a fresh track.
As I had been walking Kyle pretty hard the truck heater soon worked on him and he noddded off as we bounced along.
With the wind behind us we suddenly came up behind a bull trotting down the road in front of us.
The bulls head was down and he was swinging it side to side as he obviously was trailing a potential girlfreind.
As I hit the brakes I reached over and shook Kyles' arm and the expression on his face was priceless as the first thing he saw was a rack floating down the road 30 yds in front of him.
I quickly bailed from the truck and grabbed my rattle racks & stuck my calling horn in my mouth as I got away from the truck. I motioned Kyle to start a sneak toward the moose using the treeline for cover.
I got the racks up beside my head and let out a couple loud grunts. The bull spun broadside for a look and them continued down the road. He stopped 3 times to do this and I could see him looking at the paddles held beside my head.
Kyle continued to slowly close the difference and the bull turned and went into the bush.
I immeadiately switched to cow calling and did so continuously for the next several minutes.
It was too much for bullwinkle as he just had to come see.
As he stepped free of cover at 18 yds a little grunt stopped him broadside and Kyle stuck a rage thru the boilerhouse.
He went about a hundred yards and piled up.
Not a classic bowhunt - just total bull!

Was a great story when I heard it last fall and still a great story. Sounds like a successful hunt to me, for both of you.

I bet the kid was thrilled! :allright:

Well done, Bill.

Hey T !

Rick called a similar bull to 3 yds for a first-time moosehunter early in week 3 but no other luck at the resort.
We hunted 10 minutes in rifle to fill a cow tag!
