Any area close to roads will get a fair bit of hunting pressure. There are going to be some good areas all over. Most people hunt east of Thunder Bay for moose but there is some great areas west and southwest of Thunder Bay for moose as well. Of course there is also a larger number of deer there and I am not sure what impact they have had in the last 5 years. Good luck on your hunt. |

Hey Rene, the areas you mention have historically been pretty good areas and there are still some good pockets of moose but the numbers definitely don't seem to be where they were a few years ago. Contrary to what some would have us believe the huge number of predators - Bears and Wolves - are definitely taking their toll. So are the high deer numbers with a number of moose being observed exhibiting signs of brain worm each year. It seems the further west you go in 13 the better it is. Joe |

WMU 13 is hunted hard by locals. If I was travelling, I'd go a little further where there's a bit less competition. |
