I have hunted in the area. I have taken a few bulls in 21A with rifle. Deadhorse Rd. is a great area but hunted very hard. I like some of the lesser known or used areas like the old Pic River Rd north of Neys or going directly north of the Marathon turn off to Bamoos Lake. Nice road into Coubran Lake by mink creek falls. Some great rivers you can use to access untouched areas. Pic River, Little Pic River, prairie river, steel river etc. Good luck.

We managed to get an archery surplus tag for 21a last night... Looking forward to giving a new area a try for a weekend or two...

well first congrats on the tag! As for info i have worked in the bush up there for the past 7 years . John Ahl road links camp 81 and gorge creek road . it is the moose hunter 401. if you like to road hunt make the loop. however there are some great hunting spots not too far off these main roads. the fmu has lots of moose but you have to travel off the main routes. good luck, my advice bring a canoe and use google earth.

With the insane increase in tags this area should be a freakshow for both archery and rifle

I guess that means we'll have to get our arses as far as we can off the beaten path.

See you in about 17 days, Bill.

P.S. Hope you find the info you're looking for, bigbuckfisher. And good luck with the hunt.

I hunted 21A for a few years, a few years back. We never got skunked and some of the bulls were very nice. There was always lots of sign. We would always setup camp in the same area which was a couple of hours down from Geraldton. I would recommend getting to a cut well before day break and somehow indicate (vehicle or hanging jacket) that you are hunting that area. Every year, the number of hunters seemed to increase and it gets frustrating when you put in the time in a spot and someone just drives past you and puts there nose up in the air. I thought we were "fellow hunters". Anyhow, if you are lucky enough to get the dust out of the barrel, the rewards of 21A are usually pretty good. Good luck!

Hey Trip, just out of curiosity where abouts were you if you traveled 2 hours from Geraldton as we go about 50km from Geraldton depending on the road it could be 1 1/2 hours? We might be in the same neck of the woods. We have been going there for 5 years now and have noticed less hunters on the main road over that time, but there seems to be more road hunters so not sure where they are camping.
