I personally make a few birch bark calls every year in the spring. I make three or four varying in size. I just strip the bark off, shape it into a cone and zip tie them tight. Then I let them season over the summer. I have bought different calls in the past but they never seem to last. If you break a birch call it doesn't cost you $50 and you can use it to start a fire. I have also broken a few plastic calls raking with them when it is below zero. I personally wouldn't pay for a call. Also you really don't need one 3/4 of the time.
