The latest Ontario Out of Doors magazine has an article about using decoys - including moose decoys while hunting. Part of the article talks about a guy who made a sillouette using plywood. I'm going to give it a try. I'll post some pictures when it's finished.

I'll have to read that article.

I was planning to make a silhouette myself, but when I looked at the cost, effort and weight of a plywood decoy, I picked up a Montana decoy instead. The head and ears of the Montana look good, so I'm thinking of putting it next to some trees or brush and seeing if it can focus a bulls attention when I'm bowhunting. Unfortunately I won't be trying it this year due to the vagaries of the draw.

I was thinking about a Montana decoy, but would like something a bit larger. Also, I think that I can make something cheaper for less than the Montana decoy.

I've got a Montana decoy for sale, if you are interested.

Send me a PM.

What I was planning was a sheet of plywood ~$25, piano hinges (so it could be folded for carrying) ~$35, black paint ~$10, wood for supports ~$10, Hardware for attaching legs and securing "folds" ~ $10, Ground spikes ~$15, for a total of some $100+. On top of that was the portability issue, since the thing would be heavy to carry into the bush and cumbersome to pack and manage while travelling. It seems that the $140 investment was worth a try.

I wish I'd known LeGrand had one for sale before I went to the store.
