Fellow bowhunters. Do you not find it odd that you are issued a bow tag and it is only good for 4 weeks. However buy a gun tag and 3 months you are able to hunt. I think the MNR needs to change the regulations and issue a bow tag from the beginning of bow season to the end of gun season. Yes I know they end the bow season to avoid archery tags killing moose in rifle season but for us honest hardcore bow hunters we are missing out. Call it global warming or whatever the last few falls were spent fishing. Hey if a hunter can harvest a moose in late November with a bow good for them. I think the bow hunters should be able to hunt longer. Regardless. Anyone else share the thought? |

Makes no since at all. In our area WMU 54 there is only a week of moose hunting. Guess it makes it to hard to controll as there would be afew that would take advantage of the extra seals out there. So everyone hunts together during the week. Matt |

I always just assumed you could keep right on hunting with the bow, just had to wear hunter orange. Sure I love my camo for bow hunting but I've had game just as close with orange on. Check the laws maybe you can! |

Take a kid hunting...you'll need someone to drag it when you get older! They are our future. | |

in 19 we were told by the warden that the archery season is a special season so maybe that has something to do with it. He said that we werent even allowed to carry a gun for birds, that goes against the rules. Our group didnt ask anymore questions or question the rule since we dont bring guns up during the archery hunt. |

I just talked to a CO at the MNR office in Minden and he said it is legal to bow hunt moose in WMU54 during the rifle hunt as long as you wear the required blaze orange. Ryan

Monks, What WMU are you talking about? Not sure if I am missing something but the way I read the Regulation is that it is bows only until October 7th for example in area 13 and after that it is Rifles, shotguns, bows and muzzleloaders until December 15th. So as long as you are in hunter orange I would think you could hunt with your bow until December 15th. http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/stdprodconsume/gr...ment/239848.pdf |

I think Monks is talking about the adult tag. I think was the archery only season is done so is his tag so for the regular season hunting for calfs only. |

Thats what he meant im sure. Bowhunters apply for an adult tag which can be used during the archery only season. When Rifle season starts, the tag turns into a calf only tag. A bowhunter can continue to use their archery equipment during the rifle season for a calf or party hunt with someone that has an adult rifle tag but they will have to abide by the rifle hunting rules, Blaze orange vest and hat. |

I have no problem with the length of the archery season as only once I have I been able to hunt the entire archery season. If you really want to hunt longer you could always apply for a tag for the gun season and just hunt with your bow. Then you can hunt a lot longer. I have a issue with the small game gun season being open at the same time as the Moose archery season. I have had more then one Moose turned off by the sounds of gun shoots not to mention the trucks driving the roads all day looking for Grouse. I wish the small game was archery only until the gun season open for big game. Anyone else for that? Alces |

Yeah that is right I have been carrying my bow for the pass three years during the rifle hunt with me. Can't alot of strange looks if you come across another hunter. Yes, you have to follow the rifle season Blaze orange requirments. Matt |
