the weather was certainly not co operative, temps in the 20C range, suprised we had any activity at all!

was pretty interesting morning, we were initially only about a quarter mile apart, and could both hear the moose in a wetland between us. I tried a soft cow call, and he apparently didnt like it and wandered tbe other way. My brother in law heard him in the pond, and then in the alders between the pond and the cut, so he sat just inside the edge of a little cut, waited about 45 min, and out he came at about 100yds. made a great shot, and the bull made it about 80 yards, falling in the cut itself. Worked out great, could get the bike in to get it out, and scrambled back to camp to get it cleaned, hung, and cooled best we could before rushing it into the butcher.

Was great to see him get a moose, he's been hunting hard for the past few years, and was really exciting!

Nice animal. Congrats to the shooter!

By the look of the antlers hes a western moose from the northwest. I have a nephew living near TBay I'm hoping to get into hunting, so he'll invite his old uncle to join him up there in hunters heaven.
Hunting is Exciting!

interesting thing with this bull, he was a little over a 40" rack, and we figured would be around the 4.5-5.5 yr range judging by the antlers.

afterwards, we aged the jaw, and its at the bottom of the scale, this moose is alteast 9+, its apparently hard to tell past that, but hes atleast that old. Seems that he's a prime bull, whose antlers have peaked, and are now getting smaller again.

lots of burger......but still great!
