I think if you read the moose section in the regulations you will get an idea which tags are available and how many for the units your interested in. That will give you an idea of moose numbers as the MNR does vary their tag numbers on their moose population estimates along with other variables. Here is a link to some Ontario resources including last season's hunting regulations. http://z4.invisionfree.com/The_Hunting_For...?showtopic=9804

Saying eastern on does not narrow it down enough. That encompases about a dozen or more wmu's. Here is what I can tell you. area 61 has pockets of good moose numbers. same as area 60, some areas i would even cosider hi pops but that doesnt matter if you cant get a tag. No gaurantee for a cow tag and you will need 9+ pool a hunters for a bull..However, I do know a couple people who have got them individualy the past few years. Guys I know who have camps in both Madoc and Calabogie areas, well lets just say if they get a tag, they get there moose. Some are seeing more moose in 3 or 4 days then a lot of guys see all week traveling way up north. Around Bon Echo park is naother area with hi numbers. Anybody I hear of getting tags for there, gets there moose. Even as far SE as Sharbot Lake and Enterprise guys are seeing moose. Its just getting the tag can be difficult...good luck. |

You gotta apply as an individual for the Special Archery Moose Hunt in WMU 65. You can only hunt this special season if you draw an adult tag. If you don't draw an adult tag, you cannot hunt that WMU for calves. If you get lucky in the draw, you may take one guest hunter to join you on the hunt. As for the population, there are moose in the Cornwall/Morrisburg area in pockets here and there. There's also some moose in the Larose Forest, as well as the Alfred Bog. |
