Hey, I have drawn an archery tag for vermont. Any advice would be helpful but mostly I am wondering what calls work the best. Also, would you recommend using a decoy? Thanks for any help.

the best call in the world wont make much of a difference if you dont know how to use it. Lots of videos out there with some real good tips and "how to"
Think its Guthrow who has a good set, if not someone will correct me and point you in the right direction to some good calling lessons

What's your hunting dates? Hunting early or mid-september or the tenth of October are not the same. Let me know, and I will figure what might be the best calls and strategies.

Well, thoses are great dates for the big bull since most of the mating are already done. They are still fired up, but there are less lovesick cows around, so they start to walk to find em. They tend to stick in their rut places around the Sept 20 until october, you have to go find em. When October arrives, they are more willing to take a walk around.
So for the calls, i would make the annoying young bull calls (whea type of noise) and a harrased cow sound to try to fool the big bull. When he hear a young bull being annoying to a cow, sometimes, the bull can't resist to kik the ass of this fake young bull.
I would not do much ratteling, I would troll the wood around and cover as much land as possible.
I'll try to send you a example of this scenario in video.

On this link, you'll hear what i mean by a cow being harrassed by a bull. She's not totally ready for mating, it's a question of a few hours, but not ready yet. She smells good for the bull, and he keep following her, she is annoyed and telling him to back off.
If your are two hunter, it's even better. You let your partner behind you a few hundred feet. In front, you do the harrassed cow, and your partner behind, do the bull call.

Best wishes!
