has anybody spent mid day time looking for bedded moose in meadows or grassy areas...just wondering if this is worth the time or is it best to maybe be at camp refreshing yourself for the evening hunt.... |

IMO you should make the most of your hunt, so spend as much time out hunting as you can. There are different techniques that you can utilize throughtout the day to increase your odds. Sam |

You can't find a moose in your cabin - you need to be out there. In my experience moose move less in the afternoon. Most of the moose we got were harvested in the morning. Moose like to bed on side of hills / higher places where they can see and hear what's coming - don't forget to look at these places for bedded moose. |

I always watch the bogs/ marshes in the mornings and evenings but during the middle of the day I like to still hunt along the tops of high ridges close to the areas that I know the moose like to travel along. |

lol....i realize that the more time you spend in the bush the better chance you have. but when you wake up at 4:30 in the morning and go to bed at about 10:30 at night,on a two week hunt. you have to sleep some time. my question was leading too, if there was anybody with more experience moose hunting then me ever pass on a morning hunt because they have had luck doing the mid day stock?? |

I sometimes have a nap in the bush while I am hunting. Really warm days in particular. If it is cold or there is snow or rain I'm going to be hunting hard all day. You have to enjoy moose camp so some breaks here and there are important to recharge. I like to shoot chickens and sometimes fish when I am moose hunting. I am less likely to take breaks while deer hunting but even deer hunting I take a pause here and there. The current weather conditions are the biggest factor in each days plan and effort. Good luck on your moose hunt skdly. |
