As promised, I'll be posting the cartoon on Sunday. In the meantime, I'd like to show you what my desk looked like a couple of nights ago. I pretty much can fill a binder with all the preliminary work I had done before I actually went to digital.![]() The four images below my desk are just some snapshots - teasers. Here's an idea of how I go about doing this stuff: First I tape four sheets of letter-size paper to create my drawing area... I rough out my boundaries for a 14x20 poster than start drawing in the scene. I'm drawing from a rough sketch I made on a piece of note paper - no details, just a whole lot of lines and scribbles. Once I have the scene drawn out with everyone's body as well, I then take an exacto knife and seperate the four sheets of paper so I can scan each one into my computer. After I've scanned them all, I'll put them back together again in my painting program. My next step is to get everyones faces drawn up - These I'll do at about four times the size they'll appear in the poster. I do this so I can get in details. Then these are all scanned in and put into place on the poster. Color takes a good week to do. I had some empty spots after I was done so I drew up some props like small animals and deer racks, which I used to fill in these spaces. You'll notice a lot going on... Like a crazy tale of a group of hunters in the woods hunting deer and maybe something else... This year's is jam-packed with energy, color and fun! My next post here will be the finished piece. |

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

Carew's face is missing, but now that I have his photo, I'll have to update a few images here. When I visited Bowhunter-57 this past summer, he showed me the first cartoon which he had been a part of. He had it laminated to one of those hard cork boards - I think most frame shops do them. It looked great and it could be a more cost effective alternative to having this framed. Just a thought. Anyway, I am going to print on Tuesday and I should have them done by the end of the week. You guys should have your copy in a couple of weeks. Send me your mailing address!!
