Well I am back and nothing to report but utter disappointment...three days before the hunt opened we thought would be a good time to get up and scout....however that was not the case. Very warm weather coupled with the rain virtually everyday and night (very similar to last years opening weekend). Put on over 200 km on the three wheeler and did not see any fresh sign. The only fresh sign were cow tracks on opening morning and nothing else. We had a six wheel drive Polaris Ranger with us as well and took it into the area we had seen the cow tracks....hoping that we would see the cow....no luck and had the unfortunate luck of blowing the drive belt on it coming back at night.....15 km from our camp...we walked about five km and came upon a camp at midnight and they we nice enough to give us a ride back to our camp. What pissed me off was noone came looking for us from our camp...only one was concerned enough to make mention of it....nothing else. Only heard of two moose being taken....one group floated down the river by canoe and the other actually the group that gave us a ride to camp got one on a lake....however they had no boat so they had their work cut out for them. There was one group of eight that blocked a road into a cut....they came by our camp the next day and drove our cuts we talked to them and asked why they were blocking the road into the cut....there response was it was a small cut and they are only going to hunt in that area. Well we had the aireal maps for the area and knew the cut was huge. We showed them and the next day they moved the vehicles to open up the road This was the last year for my rifle group. Two are going to Alberta one has retired and is moving out to be closer to his youngest son...the other is following his wife in the new year as she has gotten a job in Edmonton. Now I have more ins for hunting in Alberta. I will concentrate on deer now....as without moose the freezer is getting low...hopefully I will have better luck with the deer. I still hold the bull tag ....its just a matter whether or not I can get back into 15b to hunt for one again. The three wheeler worked excellent....had a really good workout in the swamps the second last day I was there. It made getting back into the bush easy...would liked to have used it to pull out a moose though. That is it in a nutshell....came home a day early as I was disappointed and almost depressed from the whole ordeal...time to clean up everything and focus on deer. I will post photos later (not many). Drew...the area you directed me was excellent however on the way in someone had set up camp already so we did not go any further....perhaps next year as I have bow opener and the week following off I might but in for archery and have a gander up there again now that I am familiar with the area.
