I went out tonight and sat on a trail crossing about 200 yards from a farm field. A doe came running across an old logging road with the big 9 point I've been after chasing her. I thought what the heck I might as well try to grunt . It stopped him and he slowly but surely worked my way but it got dark and he was still coming. I left my bow and arrows up in the tree and promptly got out of there before he had me pinned down and I'd be stuck in my stand. This is the earliest chasing I've seen around here. I'm sure it was the exception rather than the rule as it's a few weeks off yet but it was fun to see them warming up for the rut!! |

A week ago on our woodlot in WMU 60, I saw where 2 bucks had been fighting (Lot's of tracks all over a area on our road) plus a few scrapes. No rubs though. |

I haven't seen a scrape or a rub. All the does I watch still are with fawns. The rut should start in my hunting area in a couple weeks which is bang on time. I'll be getting back from Alberta at perfect timing and lotsa vacation to burn. lol |
| I don't always chase tail, but when I do; its whitetail. Stay camo my friends. | |

Yeah I think you are right.I think they are chasing the does for sure.I was out this morning in WMU 76 in the minising swamp area and watched a buck chase 2 does. The does did come close enough for a shot but I decided to pass up the shot due to some branches in my shooting lane and my buddy in the next stand approx 200 yards away.I thought he might get a shot but no luck. The buck was a 8 pointer.Debating to go out again this evening or wait it out to latter this week. |
