Was Muzzleloader hunting aftenoon watch 10/17 just befroe dark 200 yds away, I heard water splashing in this beaver pond and then the doe did her death moan. Went the next day found the dead deer and put my camera there.

Darn Coyotes take more adult deer them most want to admit.

Just to clarify this picture was taken in northern NY where we do have a huge coyote population and problem.

I have trapped them in the past but it's labor intensive with little financial return.

Interseting picture.

I had 5 coyotes go by my stand last evening. Later 3 deer were coming to the field but when they hit the coyotes trail they turned back. Argg.

In the last few years I have seen coyotes out in the field during the day, come round the camp fires at night and heard them all over when out at night.
This is the Perth/Lanark area as well as near Merrickville.

I have also seen them at night quite regularly near Manotick.

Never been like this before in my memory.

Last coyote I saw tried to attacked one of my goose decoys. Bad move!!! He ended up on the wrong side of a 3" 12 ga. load of BBs. He is smelling daisies now. One year deer hunting I had 11 yotes come up the small ridge I was sitting watch on. They all went down a draw about 75 yards from me, except one. It kept coming my way. At 45 yds it also went down into the draw, just as I was going to getting ready to send him flowers. We had 2 city bred matriarchs (sp) in camp that forbid shooting "wolves". The pack split up at the base of the hill in front of me and half went up and the rest went around the base. It just happens we had a sitter on top of the hill who happened to be armed with a "smoke pole". He came down about 10-15 min. later and was just white. Says he had 6 yotes in front of him eyeing him up and only had one shot. I guess the other five couldn't find him in all that smoke. The deer he shot at escaped. :D :D :D
