I have to say it's fake.

Looks like a picture of a deer laying dead on the ground with an arrow in it.

i heard that sometimes if the animal in this case a deer moves real quick when the picture is being taken it distorts the moving object. not sure how true that is but them camera junkies sure can make certain things look spooky when they want.

what I keep looking at is how it appears that the bottom half of the deer seems brighter from the flash perhaps? and the top half is darker being above the flash

check out the deers tail as well, it isn;t in focus, kind of like it was moving real quick, if it was still it should of been in focus

Cool pic, but for it to be real something would have to be blurry, the arrow for example would have a ton of motion on it so there is no way it could be 100% in focus.

Addict!!
I've never seen a deer jump after a hit in the lungs like that in any deer I shot, they turn and run.

The closes I have seen from a game camera and a kill shot was my 2007 bear shot when I had the bear in at the barrel with the date and time and the next photo was Blood up the tree with the arrow standing against the tree with the same date and time....

Could be either.
I know for a fact I could pull that off "if" a deer were to jump up shortly after getting hit. Theoretially its little different than some of the shots I put up in the Upland forum of birds getting hit by bird shot in mid air or in the one picture I got where you can see the shot just before i hits the bird.

No, it doesnt "distort" the target. If your settings are wrong for that kind of speed, you motion blur...The picture looks "soft" in the case of just a little, or the subjects badly burred in the case of alot.

Why? Look closely and you ll see the the bird shot

Ive never seen it either, mind you I dont hunt. Either way that t me is maybe the most telling. Everything about the Bucks body posture is seem wrong for a real jump and Ive never seen deer jump like startled cats either. Persepective angles seem wrong to. unless they were ground huntng (shooter and photographer)

Maybe the best way to tell is the blood...Isnt that alot for a deer thats "just" been shot
or dead steel eyes. You get that from flashes if you dont know how to avoid it but they look dead and lifeless as opposed to steel eye from flashes.

I think it's fake. He looks like he is lying on the ground dead when the picture was taken and I don't think there would be blood on the outside of the wound like that the second he was hit. Just my humble opinion.

Thanks MM.

Had to cut my reply short to go catch my train so I could join the rest of the lemmings in the rat race.

I don't like to pick other peoples photos apart, but I also don't like photos being doctored and audiences led astray unless your upfront about it. Ive seen great hings through the pwoer of PS but the originator should be upfront it. Otherwise its gives people who are trying to do Outdoor photography a bad name.

Thinking about the shot on the train, the more I thought about the more I suspect its doctored.

Posture.
Heres a shot I have of White tail that has gotten airborne but is on its way down as in the shot above.

Heres a sequence from start to finish of a White Tail leaping.

Probably more importantly.
The Pic shown was taken in very low light, you can tall by how harshly and badly the WT was flashed.

Two things wrong with whats presented.
1) the Light in the Background trees doesnt match the amount light used to illuminate the Buck

2) Most telling.
In light that low, the only way to freeze action like that (have enough shutter speed) is to set your ISO really high. For all but the best bodies that means alot of noise. Theres some noise in the image, but not enough to suggust a really high ISO was used. And you need really "fast glass"...Read expensive. That image wasnt produced by high end gear. That much I can tell. Lastly if your using high end gear and fast glass your Depth of field is razor thin.

Techno mumbo jumbo meaning your have to open the lens wide (fast glass) to allow enough light in, to get the high shutter speed to freeze the deer mid air (else its badly blurred) but that mean a really narrow depth of field. The deer may still be in focus but the background would be heavily blurred.

Like this.
Shot in the pouring rain at f1.8
Posted Image

That gives you the shutter speed to freeze the action, but.....everything else is out of focus.
Posted Image

In order to get the deer in focus and the trees in the background the way the image does you need a really deep depth of field. Theres no way your getting enough shutter speed to do all lthat in light that low. Not even remotely

Shame people feel the need to do stuff like this
:(
