Wow... What a difference from 136.5 to 68.2. Double the price. I never would have thought we would ever see this again. Question is, how long will it last?

It 78.2 here today. The problem is that when crude was $143.00 a barrel gasoline was $1.42 per liter. Now its @$47.00 a barrel it should mean gasoline is about .48 / ltr. They are gouging us even more as the price drops !!!!!!!!!!

pretty much 74.5 on average around here but i did see it for 72.9 in Ingersoll. I can't see it lasting, it won't be long before they reduce production decreasing the supply, upper the demand and keeping it going up at the pump. I bet they settle at like 90 and keep it there for a long while.

Winter time with its demand for heating oil will likely drive the prices back up. I can't beleive the price of Diesel compared to gasoline. No savings driving a deisel at those prices.

It's all a head game (prices up-prices down).
If they see a huricane forming out in the ocean the prices go up.
If the earth reacts in away that it swallows up an island the prices go up.
Now the prices are going down because they the gas companies have drummed up some cock and bull story that we will fall for..
I hope they don't see my post because the gas is going to go up.
Just to teach us a lesson.......

Low gas prices is a good indicator that the economy is in the junk. While it seems like good news, it's actually really bad news. We just haven't totally felt the effects yet, which is really scary. Lower gas is like praying for lower house prices (if you are buying), but lower prices means that the entire economy is tanking. Brace yourselves things are going to get ugly.

How long will it last? A while. Gas will probably hit $35 a barrel in the new few weeks/months and slowly come up. When the market corrects which could take years 3-10 is likely and conservative, gas will come up. They are trying to price fix and cut supply, but it wont work. There are too many cheaters in the Arab which will continue to produce gas. Remember too, that they have bills to pay as well and are used to $100 a barrel. Times are tough, even for the Saudi's.

Start paying off debt aggressively. When we come out of this, interest rates are going through the roof.

"times are tough even for the Saudis" lol)))

You got to be kidding me ?
Yeah, the Saudi Princes may have to sell some of their Yachts that they keep on the French Riveara ? I think not.

OPEC and the oil companies share the blame for the world recession. With finacials in crisis oil went to $146/barrel, even though the fundamentals only supported $70/barrel oil, and that was the final straw for the world economy.

Gas here in Northern NY is $1.89/gal and I believe it will creep up over $2/ gal next summer. But, it'll be a long time before it reaches $4 /gal again.

The Saudi's invested money in infrastructure expecting to sell gas at $147 a barrel because everything thought things would only go up. Is Alberta suffering? You bet they are, they can't take oil out at a loss from the sands. You think you can make a profit off $35 a barrel oil? They have debts too, trust me their are hurting. They're (try to) price fix because they can't afford to make oil for such a low profit...but alas no one needs it to make or ship things because no one has any money.

Gas was high before due to speculation re: the stock market. Now the bubble burst...in part, the other part is that demand is way down, plus the offselling has overshot the downward value.

Ever see a lottery winner go bankrupt? What about celebrities? Money problems stem from spending problems. Saudi's are no different.

The poor Saudis and the speculators, should have taken a tip from Newton," what goes up, must come down."

Do you really think the Saudis want oil back at $147/barrel so the Alberta oil sands will again be profitable, or the world to move further away from a oil based economy ? They couldn't care less about Alberta or the rest of the Canadian economy. They do care about keeping oil prices where only they can make a profit but yet not too high to cause demand for alternative energy vehicles..
The average 25 year old Saudi makes $125,000/ year, with Filopinos, Indians, etc.. doing all the work there. Yeah, they're hurting, where can I send a donation ? lol)))

You must not have watched the 60 minutes segument on the Saudis last Sunday ?

Nope, didn't watch that show. Just using my common sense. The entire world is hurting. It surprises me that we can't think past our own problems. But then again it doesn't.

Anyway, the Saudi's aren't happy with the price of oil and the price of oil is a great indication that the entire world economy is suffering. It's just a tiny glimmer of positivity in the world today for ordinary consumers. It's difficult to celebrate in other words.

Cheap oil means that a lot of people aren't working. Difficult to see past your backyard, but that is the fact of the matter.
