In close with a doe with my girls

Today I took my two girls out for a walk in the woods to see if we could get in close to some deer. I have always wanted to do this since they were old enough, but due to a rare allergy to the cold, it just wasn't possible. Since they were about two years old they suffered from cold uticaria, which is a rare allergy to cold temperatures... they would get rashes and hives and their faces would swell up slightly when walking to school or going from the house to the car. They no longer show signs of this allergy so I decided this year I would take the first opportunity and take them out. The challenge was to get them to see a deer in the outdoors. We got into a small hardwood bush, nice and quiet, and I noticed as we approached the edge on the other side, a large doe had already noticed us and had stopped to watch if we would come closer. We were only 25 yards from her! the kids both took some time to see her through the sticks, but when they did the look on their face was priceless. We managed to crawl in closer as she took her eyes off of us. Eventually she walked off and we went home. But man, what an afternoon.

Right on! :allright:
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

Thats pretty cool for them to get that close and the deer allow it. It's almost like she knew you meant no harm.

Awesome, they will not forget it. I still remember my dad taking me out when I was around 6 to the deer yards where he was logging, what a great time. :D

Exactly! Her tail never went up but she was well aware of us being there. My eldest wants to go back soon... the other one really enjoyed herself but she may still be a little young. She wanted to go home when things started getting good.
