The temps are supposed to drop anywhere from -30 to -37 across NW Ontario tonight. The good news is that it's a dry cold and not snowing. Regardless, we could use a bit of global warming right about now.

On a side note, I was driving around Thunder Bay, I can see where the deer have been coming out to the highway and pawing up the snow to get at the vegetation beeneath. Some of the craters are 5' accross.

Can you believe it's only the first half of December? It feels like late January!

Sam, it has been -30 or colder almost every night for the last 7 days straight in NW Ontario. It was -38C on tuesday morning when were driving to Fort Frances and I think we have seen 4 days of -35C at the farm with the rest between -28 to - 35C this past week. Coldest early December I have ever seen. Global warming.......blah.

It hasn't been that cold around Thunder Bay. It was -30 last night around 10:00 pm, but warmed up to -25 by 7:00 this morning. Still f'n cold by any standards though.

I'm having a hard time recalling the last time it was this cold this early.

I have been living where I am for the past 13 years there is a small 23 acre lake right behind us never seen it safe enough to walk on before the second week of January. Checked it on Wednesday to find 4 1/2" of clear ice on Wednesday an we have had -18 or colder every night since an very little snow cover on it so wouldn't be surprised to find we are getting close to the 6" mark now
