Poll finds 73% of B.C. residents support meat hunting, but only 10% favour trophy hunting

Well I guess I'm in the 83% approval level, I hunt for the meat and trophy, as well as keeping and treating the hide... I would never shoot anything that I didn't want to eat, that's just me...

A lot of misunderstanding by the general public about the definition of trophy hunting. They probably think a trophy hunter chops off the head and leaves the meat.

Ridiculous if they think there's a rotting animal laying somewhere everytime a trophy is killed

That's just a lot of people that do not understand. Would they prefer people shoot every fawn instead of a mature buck? I think when the antis call it trophy hunting that they automatically assume the meat is wasted and there is nothing but the antlers that people are looking for.

I say what is the difference? I want a mature animal and I eat the meat, how is that wrong to anyone. And the antis try and make it more about killing than the actual hunt. Most of us are more interested in the hunt itself, it is a journy that may or may not culminate with the death of an animal. To make hunting about killing is to not understand its essence.

As hunters, we can't expect people who make up polls to understand what we do and how we think. It is up to us to pass that on to our kids and to others who are interested and will listen with an open mind.
