Who actually puts these shows on? Like who decides when and where they take place? |

depends on which ones you're talking about. There are a lot of different organizations running various events. We'll be at two more this month. One is put on by the Great Canadian Outdoor Expo and the other we are hosting. |

I imagine $ has a lot to do with it. I've been to a lot of them over the years and enjoyed vitually every one. Some are better than others of course, but I do like them. |
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

Ok so lets say you don't have a Bass Pro or an outdoor show nearby, or a Big Game Association. All your hunting shops are few and far between and are not much bigger then your garage. How does someone go about doing a show? How do you predict the outcome of a show to know if it's worth the effort of organizing? etc etc etc. |

In general it takes 3-4 years to make money from a show. All it takes is to rent a spot ie. arena or what ever large venue you have and picking what you deem is a good date. usually events are at least two days. From there you will make revenue from renting various booths to exibitors. ie. you can bring in Bombardier who can show off their new line of atv's, seadoo,s jet boats etc. So it is good for their business. You will also make money for the cost to get in for their day pass or weekend pass. There is alot of work that goes into these shows for planning and organizing and often you will give booths out for free the first year just to have the exibits. I say this from a co-worker who's husband just did "The Guy Show" in Ottawa and they had an approximate 15,000 people walk through the doors the two days. In the end, they did not make any money but should they continue, hopefully the numbers will be rewarding. |

Im kinda with Slim on this. We on the west end here by the looks of it have one show a year if we travel to Thunder Bay. I had plans on going but missed it due to work. There are some great bucks here too ( take my word for it) but no one I know will travel a thousand miles to make a show if they miss the one in Thunder Bay........ Dryden, Kenora ,Fort Frances to mention a couple of our bigger towns are left in the dark. To me these shows are llike polatics, majority vote wins everytime. |
