Sounds pretty cool, is it near Niagara Falls?
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a bowel movement by the clean end

It is just outside Stoney Creek in Winona ON, very close to Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford, Welland, Niagara - that's why we chose the spot. Only about 5 minutes off the QEW

STONEY CREEK WATERFOWLERS EXPO
Saturday August 16, 2008

Update – July 18, 2008

Things are really coming together nicely for our second annual Southern Ontario Calling Championships and Waterfowler’s Expo.

The gates open at 11:30 to complete the calling contest registrations and the first contest (Jr. Duck) kicks off at 12 noon followed immediately by the Jr. Goose. Thanks to the generosity of St. Lawrence Outfitters and Ducks Unlimited Canada there are great prizes for the top three finishers in each category. Qualifying rounds for Senior Duck and Senior Goose along with the Two Man Team Goose Calling Championship follow.

Our seminars this year take place in the calling contest area. Luke Scherders of Grey Bruce Outfitters has prepared a great seminar for waterfowlers on the proper use of spinners (robo ducks) in a field hunting setting. Luke is a full time guide and is only too happy to share his knowledge on this often confusing subject.

New this year is the beer garden sponsored by our friends at Lakeport Breweries. Enjoy the seminars and contests while sipping on a cold one and our lunch this year features BBQ pea meal bacon on a bun; at a very reasonable price.

Our retriever demo is truly unique. We’ve managed to get John and Barb Mitchell of Tollhaven and Kishkahdina Kennels to host this segment of the program. John and Barb are both hunters and renowned breeders and trainers of Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers.

Their travels have taken them all over Ontario and the United States. They judge and compete in the Canadian Kennel Club Hunt Test and Working Certificate programs. They are also licensed to judge the hunting tests run by North American Hunting Retriever Association. John has chaired Field Trails and gunned at several Canadian National Field Trials.

They have a unique presentation in store for you – how to start your retriever on the path to becoming a competent hunting dog. They have two six month old pups that they will put through the paces followed by a finished four year old champion. This is set-up to be interactive so please bring and ask all your questions. This seminar will run at noon and 2:00 pm

We have lined up a great cross section of vendors for you. St. Lawrence Outfitters will have a trailer full of the newest decoys and gear for the waterfowler, see the new Dakota decoys first hand, visit the Rondeau Bay Waterfowlers Association booth, see the line up of Bankes boats for the layout and big water hunter, renew your DUC membership at the show and get a new duck call and DU hat, book a goose or duck hunt with one of the Outfitters; just a few of the neat things we’ve got happening.

Doors open to the DU Sportsmen’s supper and calling finals at 3:30 pm. This part of the day features a great BBQ hip of beef dinner, silent and live auctions, HUGE sportsmen’s raffle and the Duck Roulette Wheel with over twenty boxes of Avery decoys, calls and a ground blind up for grabs. Tickets are moving quickly so call today to get yours or buy online at the DUC website www.ducks.ca Click on attend an event, Ontario and then scroll down to our event. Use the handy BUY NOW feature.

Lots of great firearms and sporting art in the raffles and the winner of the St. Lawrence Outfitters Two Day Waterfowl Hunt Raffle for two with accommodation, meals and ammo will be drawn and announced.

Early goose is less than two months away. Come out and celebrate our great tradition of waterfowling and wetland conservation in Ontario. An event for hunters put on by hunters.

Admission to the grounds is free, parking is free, registration for the calling contests is free, seminars are free and tickets to the DU dinner are only $30 per adult and $25 for juniors aged 12-15.

For more details call Noreen toll free at 1 866 389 0418 or email a_laidley@ducks.ca

We look forward to hosting you on August 16th in Stoney Creek.
