7,000 IN FINES FOR HUNTING DEER ON PRIVATE PROPERTY -
Friday, April 03, 2009

THUNDER BAY, ON - April 3, 2009 - Two Hearst hunters have been fined a total of $7,000 for trespassing and hunting deer on private land. Ricky Morrissette, 48, and Gerald Arguin, 60, have both been convicted of trespassing for the purpose of hunting and fined $1,500 and $2,500 respectively. Both men were also each fined $1,000 for possession of illegally-killed wildlife and $500 for failing to wear hunter orange.

This occured near Fort Frances. The landowner took pictures of the pair with a digital camera.

Thats exactly where you get them . Right in the wallet where it hurts and maybe they'll think twice the next time they want to go hunting.......

Looks good on them.

Maybe making them an example will deter the so called hunters who disrespect someone elses property.

I think road hunting on private property days are numbered. I know many of my neighbors plan to be more vigilant in their patrols and carry a camera. I will start doing the same. Once a few more get nailed I think you will see less of this slob hunting.

The Northern jurisdictions tend to give stiffer sentences for Wildlife violations. Should be like that everywhere. You don't want to play by the rules then pay !!!!!!!!

I wouldn't expect that from 2 guys their age. I guess some people never learn.

Your right Terry

I caught two guys shooting from inside of their truck at deer... I chased them about 15 km before the OPP pulled them over. I did it so they couldn't get rid of their guns .... make a long story short all the got was a $400 fine, payed it and got their guns back and were hunting the next day. They also went back in the morning and got the deer.
Make me sick.............. I even went to the MNR office and gave them a statement.

my boss seen a guy pointing a rifle out of his truck window yesturday on a dead end road. He lives on that road and knew that guy wouldnt have premission to hunt there. He spun around and tried to talk to the guy and see what he was doing but soon as we tried turning around he sped away as fast as he could. He called the cops but I dont think they ever caught the guy. Too bad He didnt get a license plate or a good look at the guy. I dont know what he was hunting but Im betting deer or turkeys because they were all yarded up in that area all winter.

I wish they would ban people for atleast 10 years from hunting when caught and mininum 5000$ fine, if you cant pay that you pay by jail time. I bet a lot more people would think before they act.

This past deer season, I actually caught a guy sitting in my tree stand on my food plot, I couldn't believe it, he actually played it up like it was his. I walked up and told him I was lost, asked him how the hunting was going, he went on to tell me about all the hard work of getting permission for this land and the work that went into the plot. I couldn't believe the gall of the dick, I asked him nicely to step out of my treestand and then went over and was about to release the ratchet on the ladder, he decided to get down after that. I walked him out of the property and had a few good words for him. Too bad the property owner wasn't around to inform him only I had permission to hunt on his property. The he could have called our finest and tapped him up for a trespass charge or something. I didn't do it because I just wanted to get up and hunt, all I could think abot was the gall of the guy and I kept dancing around in the stand, probably spooked everything for a mile around, I was just fuming.
