Another new show that I haven't seen yet but heard about.

What irked me most about the premiere of Season 6 of CITR was Thomas saying he's been hosting solo for the past five years!

Sounds like he and Taylor had a falling out.

Anyways, he now has this show on Global at 9:30 am on Saturdays. Going to be checking it out.

DUC partners with new TV show
Oak Hammock Marsh, M.B., December 31, 2009 – Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is pleased to announce an exciting partnership with The Canadian Tradition television show.

“We have said it time and time again, but the simple and undeniable truth is waterfowlers have been there since Day 1 for DUC,” says Madeleine Arbez, DUC’s director of marketing. “In respect for that long relationship between DUC and duck hunters, we stepped forward with this opportunity. We wanted to share our pride in our waterfowling heritage with Canadians and felt The Canadian Tradition was a perfect vehicle to do that.”

As part of the agreement, DUC has partnered in four waterfowling shows from the 13 episodes of the series’ 2010 premiere season. The tone and content of TCT provided DUC with an opportunity to proudly support the importance of hunting within the conservation world.

The Canadian Tradition will premiere on Jan. 2, 2010, during its regular broadcast slot on Global Television Saturday mornings at 9:30 EST and on the Wild Television network Sunday nights at 8:00 EST. It will also be rebroadcast through the week on Wild TV. While the majority of The Canadian Tradition programs will deal with the pursuit of game other than waterfowl, the DUC profile will be front and centre during the waterfowl episodes.

“I find the history behind DUC a very interesting one,” says Taylor Wright. “DUC was started way back in the 1930s by hunters for the benefit of everyone who values wetlands and waterfowl, and to provide continued support for conservation of the resource.”

The four inaugural DUC episodes of The Canadian Tradition were filmed in the fall of 2009 and will be part of the 2010 lineup. The show titles and their Global Television air dates are as follows:

Quebec Sink Box Experience (DUC) Jan. 16
Wings on Wolfe Island (DUC) Jan. 30
Prairie Waterfowl (DUC) Feb. 20
Late Season Ontario Geese (DUC) March 13

just curious why that irked you? He was the lone host. Taylor Wright was a guest hunter on more than one occassion but he was never positioned as an official co-host.

I can't say with any certainty that Taylor was ever pegged as a co-host.....can't say I was paying attention.

However, 20 seconds of Thomas at the beginning and end of a show that is otherwise filled with Taylor means to me that the show is selling him as an integral part of it's plan.

Were there any other shows with other "regulars" hunting? I know there was a youth show and the contest winner, but Thomas was there for both (who'll forget the pepper spray in the face incident!).

It would seem to me that Taylor was more than a "guest" and for Thomas to say he's been flying solo for five years just caught me the wrong way.

Taxman, I have some friends who spend enough time at my place to almost be considered family. They don't however pay the mtg or property taxes and so as much as they are regulars they are still "guests". I think that analogy fits here.

I don't believe that there is usually any sort of payment to a show like this to be on it. In other words I would be surprised if this Taylor guy forked out money towards this show to be guest, co-host or otherwise but was rather just invited. (I think I heard he dated Pigeon's daughter but that is just rumour as far as I know on that subject) Anyway Mr Pigeon certainly did fork out tons of $$ for the development and airing of this show and as such I don't think it was at all out line for him to say he has been "solo" for the past 5 seasons. He has.

Come to think as I type this that it might "irk" CITR that he has taken his presence on thier show to launch competition within thier industry. Not saying one way or another whether what Wright did is good or bad but I sure wouldn't be surprised to learn that Mr Pigeon isn't impressed. The more hunting shows on Tv the better as far as I'm concerned.

saw the show and I was impressed. Very professionally done and I like the format and layout. Turkey footage was good and got a couple nice kills. Taylor seemed to have a good presence as the host and I suspect he'll only get better as he gets more comfortable. Better than a lot of other US shows on WildTv for sure. I also watched a California turkey hunt on M2D Camo's Living the Dream. Not even a comparison.

I hunt that area having grown up with family where his family farm is in Chaffeys Locks. My folks live down the road and I've hunted those turkey woods so it's neat to see some familiar territory on the tube. Also drove by those feilds wishing I could hunt those birds but I suspect the Wright family farm won't be granting anyone permission. lol.

you know the family , perfect. Maybe you can clarify something for me. Taylor was living just down the road here in Sweaburg, the only wrights from there that i know, besides Taylor in Ken Wright, used to be big into racing, is that his dad?
The family farm is Kingston way? Taylor have a step dad maybe? Don't care for any details just wondering if Ken is Taylors dad?

sorry I don't know the family. I know where the family farm is but that's it. It's about a 30 minute drive north of Kingston. My family has lived in that area for 4 generations but we are not farmers. My great great Uncle was the original lockmaster at Davis Locks whihc is not far from this area. My parents live in Chaffeys locks but it was only when I saw the turkey episode on CITR where they hunted on that farm that I learned he was from the area. Never met him.

my last post was confusing on that I can see. For some reason, even though I made the post, it doesn't have the "edit" button to change that confusing wording. What's up with that?

Just watched my first show last night from this past weekend. While Taylor looked a little awkward doing his "host" thing, as soon as he started talking hunting he fell back into form!

He took a smaller two or three year old buck at the end of the show and was thrilled to do so!

Looking forward to more.
