I went. When arriving at the door, I noticed it was only Gun Show. Although Al's corner store booth did have some other items. Also noticed that the Richmond shop, also had various items. To my surprise, I met my friend Réal Charlebois from RecallDesigns calls who had a beautiful booth. http://www.recalldesigns.com He kind of understood from the organiser that this Fall show was like the Spring one, so he was surprised. Also, some gun booth participants kept complaining to the organiser that Réal was making noise with his various calls while demonstrating to interested buyers. Hard to sell items if you can't provide a demonstration. I was shopping for a .243. Saw a few good models (especially from the guy from Sudburry, ON), but the price was just to much at this time for my wallet, and I had left inadvertadly my PAL on my dresser that morning (so I would have had to go back to Aylmer to get it), and many of them had a short stock, so they did not feel comfortable to me (I'm 6'4" tall = big guy = long arms). Supported the Stitsville Giant Tigers booth by buying two items (a hat with camo face mask that won't make my glasses fog-up. That's going to be usefull for waterfowling and other stuff, plus a XXL Jacket with DUC emblems on it. Spent three hours there.

LeGrand: I didn't realize that one of the booths was GT. I might have spent more time there if I had. My local GT doesn't carry much hunting stuff. Rick |

Was there for about an hour.I had the understanding it was a Hunting show,so my local news paper add said. All in all it was a good show.Lots of firearms for good prices if you knew what you were looking for. Basically the identical show they have in Perth |

NatV an I went on the Saturday afternoon, lots of firearms at stupid prices (usual gun-show fodder). Legrand, I met your friend and was very impressed with his call line up. I like the idea of a new manufacturer showing and demonstrating his product. For all those who say he was too loud....it was a HUNTING show too, so they can p*** off IMHO. NatV liked the calls too, so who knows, maybe a Christmas gift comig to me from there?? I also saw the GT booth, but they only brought out about a tenth of their product line. While some people scoff at them for their quality and/or manufacture, I know they got me through when money was much tighter adn kept me hunting in good gear. Also, some of their products are pretty darned good, adn hard to find anywhere else. BrianV |

Brian, if we get out this weekend with Kevin, I'll bring my calls from RecallDesigns to show you, and you can give them a try if you wish (just to make the wait until Christmas more painfull). If I recall (punn) I have an acrylic canada goose call, a snow goose call, and a varmint call. Réal was generous with me (as a Committe members looking for sponsors) for the Delta Waterfowl South Nation Chapter in Finch, ON, where he provided two of his calls. Réal has two local distributor (that I'm aware of). SLO, in Lansdowne ON and Fern Sports, in Masson, QC. He also sells them by internet, but you pay the same price as you would in store, he would even recommend you go through one of his store if you live near one. |
