I arrived this morning at about 4:45, got packed up and started walking about 5. The sky was getting a little brighter and I was wishing I had arrived a little earlier. I was walking to my blind when I heard a gobbler going off right in front of me somewhere.

I debated to set up where I was or go to the pre scouted blind. I chose to keep going and hurried to my blind, placed a Jake and a hen out about 15 yards away from me then sat still.

Every 2-3 minutes I heard gobbling from at least 2 birds, they kept it up non-stop. I called every once in a while with my box call, then tried my gobble call. They went crazy at every noise I made.

The gobbling kept getting closer and closer but still no birds sight. Finally, I heard a gobble that almost made me soil myself  then 2 toms appeared in full strut, they were about 30 yards away but I didn't have a shot yet. They kept on walking towards the decoys. I was trying to decide which bird to shoot, both had about the same length beard so I chose the first one to present a nice shot. The turkey was about 20 yards away and BOOM!! After a little flapping, he was down. I could have shot the other one too as he hung around a little while before taking off.

The beard was 250mm and the spurs were 22 and 23mm each. Weight not really sure, but was really heavy carrying it out :nana:

Here are some pics:
Sorry for the yard shots, I was hunting alone.

Again Congrats.

Yeah that was fast for him.

I called it quits at 12:15 p.m., got busted by a hen. Also saw two Tom's, but were not interested in coming my way.

Tomorrow is another day.
