Had an excellent hunt yesterday, my ears are still ringing. never heard so many gobbles in my life. The birds were fired up like crazy. I was set up on the edge of a field with a wood lot behind. the birds were roosted in the hardwoods. at sun up the birds gobbled and responded right away to our calls. i had two birds come right to my decoys. i looked for a beard nothing!! both birds at maybe 15 yards had no visible beards, they looked like hens also. They proceded to head directly to my partners setup where they continued to gobble there foolish heads off. He also did not see any beards, but also there heads had no visible jake colourings(blue/red), They looked like hens. he also had a third jake enter his set with a visible beard and red head. Very puzzling, I would of gladly taken a jake opening morning and at 15 yards they were goners forsure. <_<
